Hi-Res 3D Model Images From The Original Age Of Empires 2

I'm looking for images of the 3D models which were used to create the sprites for the original AOE2. Did anybody save these? I know there were a few on the web back in the day, like this one:

and then there seem to be random hi-res GIF's knocking about too, my favourite found so far being:

Was there ever a complete set, or just random units? If anyone has any info on any of the original assets, i'd be greatful!
