Counter Ramsnpikes

Hello, When people find themselves under pressure in castle or imperial age, they often use a ram + pike/halb attack, to distract the enemy. Mostly on lower elos levels those pushes are really effective, because mostly the enemy will play archers or cavalerie. I shifted a lot of games with this distraction tactic. Thinking of a scenario where you scoutet the forward kind of late, what is the most effective way to approach this.

First thing comes in mind for me is the militia line, but it's a really long tech time and easy countert by archers or HC.

Second is maybe the mangonel line, for me it's hard to micro, do you think this is the best way?

I know there are a lot of unique units against that, but not all civs have tk or samuray or shotels and of course eagles are great, but again not all civs have them.
