FORTIFIED OUTPOST. Outpost upgrade that alerts you when the enemy's army passes by. You can set the number of units needed to trigger the notification and sound effect.

An upgrade to outposts from the Feudal age or Castle age using the blacksmith or University. Perhaps it can be a civ bonus that you get for free or a castle tech maybe.

The fortified outpost triggers a notification when an army of a certain size passes by it. You can use the arrows on the unit to select the number of units needed to trigger the fortified outpost. This would be a situational unit and not so overpowered.

If you could make radical changes to the game, which would those be?

Just for entertaining purposes, I'm curious: What mechanics would you guys completely change/remove or add into the game if you could...

For me, I would be:

  • Make Towers do more damage when near a Town Center or a Castle.

  • Create a "late-game" upgrade building like AoE3's Capitol (one of the things I really like about that game)

  • Make tree stumps regrow within 30 minutes of ingame time if nothing is built upon them.

  • Increase the resource capacity of gold mines from 800 to 1100 and stone from 350 to 550.

  • Being able to Trade with your own markets at a huge gold penalty.

Multiplayer Net Lag

All of my end games look like the end game of the T90 Ring Nothing video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGQFJZVOw4g

Scrolling is smooth, there is no graphical lag, my computer is pretty beefy. Is this something that's fixable. Is there one or more players who's computers can't handle the game? If those players were booted would the game run just fine?

Personally I've gotten used to it. But I have been trying to play with people who play SC2 and they can't get over this kind of lag. I'm wondering if there's any way I can create a game and exclude players that would cause this kind of end game lag.

Quick tip if you lose your vills to boars often

NEVER set a waypoint directly on the boar, and never task a villager to a boar from a long distance away. Instead, set the waypoint NEXT to the boar. This way if you get distracted you'll have an idle vill instead of a dead one.

Then I pick a place to download it I pick my 2tb HDD as I don’t have an ssd then I It says it’s downloading I wait then when it’s done It tells me it’s going to restart my pc so it does and then I’m back at step 1 except

Civilization Match-up Discussion Round 10 Week 4: Huns vs Vietnamese

An old favorite vs a new one!

Hello and welcome back for another Age of Empires 2 civilization match up discussion! This is a series where we discuss the various advantages, disadvantages, and quirks found within the numerous match ups of the game. The goal is to collectively gain a deeper understanding of how two civilizations interact with each other in a variety of different settings. Feel free to ask questions, pose strategies, or provide insight on how the two civilizations in question interact with each other on any map type and game mode. This is not limited to 1v1 either. Feel free to discuss how the civilizations compare in team games as well! So long as you are talking about how the two civilizations interact, anything is fair game! Last week we discussed the Lithuanians vs Slavs, and next up is the Huns vs Vietnamese!

Huns: Cavalry civilization

  • Do not need Houses, but start with -100w
  • Cavalry Archers cost -10/20% in Castle/Imperial Age
  • Trebuchets +30% accuracy
  • TEAM BONUS: Stables work +20% faster
  • Unique Unit: Tarkan (Medium cavalry with attack bonus vs buildings)
  • Castle Age Unique Tech: Marauders (Create Tarkans at Stables)
  • Imperial Age Unique Tech: Atheism (Yeah who cares)

Vietnamese: Archer civilization

  • Enemy positions revealed at the start of the game
  • Economic upgrades do not cost wood
  • Archery Range units +20% hp
  • Conscription free
  • TEAM BONUS: Imperial Skirmisher available at Archery Range
  • Unique Unit: Rattan Archer (Anti-archer archer)
  • Unique Unit: Imperial Skirmisher (Imperial Age skirm upgrade)
  • Castle Age Unique Tech: Chatras (Battle Elephants gain +50 hp)
  • Imperial Age Unique Tech: Paper Money (You and all teammates receive 500g)

Below are some match up-specific talking points to get you all started. These are just to give people ideas, you do not need to address them specifically if you do not want to!

  • Okay, so for Arabia, we are seeing a revision of the current meta due to the more open nature of the new official version of the map, as well as the improved pathing. With that said, I still think most would agree that both of these civs are quite powerful. Huns... yeah I don't need to talk about them. Meanwhile, Vietnamese now have a solid economy and powerful military options throughout the game, and are surprisingly diverse for an archer civ. To whom would you give the edge here?
  • On hybrid maps, Huns possess some nice wood savings, as well as powerful, mobile military options, making them always a popular choice. However, Vietnamese now possess some solid early wood savings as well - and even get Gillnets for only 150f. Which civ do you prefer on your Four Lakes and such?
  • In team games, it is pretty obvious that Vietnamese are an excellent flank civ whereas Huns are an excellent pocket civ. I know it is kind of comparing apples to oranges, but which civ is more complete in filling out their respective roles?

Thanks as always for participating! Next week we will continue our discussions with the Franks vs Goths. Hope to see you there! :)

Struggling with MAA to archers build - advice?

I am getting my maa into the enemy’s base by a good time (soon after as I hit feudal), but I find I struggle as soon as their first archers or skirms come out. Even if I begin training archers soon after maa arrive, it seems my enemy often has time to mass archers/skirms first, especially if they go double range and because my range is so far away. Also, I struggle when my opponent decides to go heavier on skirms as an immediate response, since with proper micro they work great against my incoming archers and decent enough against the maa too.

So my question is this: how do you respond to quick straight archers/skirms mix from your opponent in response to your own maa into archers build? Thanks!

(I’m about 1180 1v1 DE ELO, for reference)

How to play with a person who doesn't have the game on Steam?

Hello, maybe the correct question is: if it is possible to play a game I own on Steam but my friend doesn't? And if it is possible, how?

The game we're trying to play is Age of Empires II, I also have the game in CD because back in the day my father gifted me the game that way, so an option is to install the game but the CD version. I have played the game on Steam with other friends that have the game on Steam but now I'm trying to play it with someone who doesn't own it in Steam, and you know that you have to spend some money before steam let you play online and sadly AoE is very cheap and it doesn't achieve the needed amount.

So if you can enlight me on this topic I'll be very thankful.

Things they don't teach you in the tutorial: for Beginners

There are many little things in AoM you can do to optimise your gameplay that aren't immediately obvious. These are some simple things that beginners can do that don't require much skill. Doing them in the first few minutes of the game can make your early game much smoother. hope it helps. (P.S. I might be horribly wrong about some of these, )

learn a simple build order for the early game - this will help you age up faster. In a very general sense you will see tips to put 4/5 on food, 2/3 on wood/gold, knowing when to build your first house and temple, etc. there are many different guides out there catering to different gods and strategies.

Never stop making villagers. auto queue their production by clicking on the green arrow button. Always make sure food is your priority so you can produce villagers non stop. however, you might want to interrupt this if you need just a bit more resources to advance to the next age.

set rally point for villagers on resource points to auto gather, and for military units if you want them to attack near a location.

always keep an eye on the idle villager banner, try to never let your villagers do nothing. If you are bad at micro, the idle military banner is also very useful to locate stray units that are doing nothing.

Use the Shift key for everything - Shift clicking queues your actions. Most often this is used when you're scouting, where you shift right click a bunch of different locations that your scout will cover automatically.

you might also use it when you want buildings built in a certain sequence, or direct a villager to another specific task when the first task is complete. This is quite useful for chinese or greek, because they have storehouses that take more than one kind of resource. villagers auto prioritize mining gold, so be sure to queue the right actions if your gather point is near different types of resource.

Learn how to garrison and eject smoothly - This will save crucial seconds for villager walking time. if your early hunt for example is on the opposite side of the TC, alt clicking, setting rally point and ejecting quickly(n) is a useful skill to learn. This is also important when your villagers are escaping from a raid.

Fishing - if playing a water map, always build docks right away and prioritise villagers on wood. the food income for fishing is massive and you will lose out if you don't do this. try to build your docks at a point where a fish horde can be visible from the shoreline. in classical age, always build some arrow ships to prepare for the inevitable harassment.

herdables can be used to scout. They are useful for scouting isolated corners or edges of maps where TCs/goldmines/more herdables may be located. however I would not use this too boldly as they can be stolen by the enemy scout.

Hunting dogs - this is practically a must have tech for most early game maps. hunt is the fastest means of food gathering. Always research this asap when there is about 600 food worth of hunt in your immediate vicinity. There are certain cases where you might want to skip this tech (such as low hunt spawn or kronos rush), but generally it's quite a safe bet. This is also why you should not go for berries or chicken at first because they are slowest to gather.

As a rule, you want your resource point as close as possible to the animals to reduce walking time. if you are norse, click ctrl+g from time to time to check if your ox carts are as close as possible to the villagers. try not to crowd too many villagers on one animal.

when building your gold gather point, always do it on the longer side of the gold mine. leave a gap so that your villagers can fit between the mine and the storehouse. when done properly they basically have zero walking time. for wood, try to pick a spot where you cannot be easily harassed. in certain maps there are a few trees around your TC which you can chop first, saving you 50 resource early on.

Hunting - huntables tend to wander about, which can increase walking time. generally you want to kill them ASAP so that they remain close to the gather point. this is where knowing the HP of animals is useful. your standard deer for example will go down instantly from a single hit from 2 villagers. if you use one villager on a deer, it might run further away from your gather point. also try to stand close to non threatening huntables as arrows from villager tend to miss at larger distance.

You can "herd" huntables closer to the direction of your resource point by attacking them from the opposite direction. this can be achieved with low damage units like scouts or using a single villager.

when hunting dangerous animals, you can use the TC to attack the animal while the villager kites around. be careful when you do this though, as the animal might lose interest and run even further away from your resource point. one way to avoid this is to let them hit your villager occasionally.

Scouting and knowing map layouts - when scouting the map, the priority should be to locate patches of hunt, TCs and gold mines. This is where knowing map layouts are useful. maps are randomly generated but they have a certain pattern that can be predicted. Your scout can save a lot of time if you can roughly guess where the resources are going to be.

In ghost lake for example, your starting hunt can be from 1 measly boar to a max of 6 boar or 4 ox. if you encounter only 1 boar, you might be tempted to think hunting dogs may not be a wise investment. however, there will always be at least 1 patch of caribou in ghost lake near your base (sometimes 2 patches, 1 on each side, and each patch can have 4-9 caribou).

Maps typically also have a range of gold mine spawns in the map. If you have only 1 small gold mine at the start, you might want to pay more attention to securing your next gold mine early on. The locations of resources on your side of the map tend to be a inexact mirror of the enemy territory, so this helps you to approximate the location of their resource points. defensive buildings like watchtowers/castles/manor are sometimes built beside gold mines for defending raids or to gold starve the opponent.

having more population than your enemy is usually the key to victory. This is why securing more TCs than your opponent is often emphasised. getting your second TC early on doubles your villager output which can be a big advantage.

Don't accumulate too many resources - spend it on military units when possible. or if you find yourself having too much wood for example, re allocate some of the gatherers to gold or building farms.

Building walls - walls are useful for filling up gaps in your base perimeter where the enemy can sneak through for raids.

Protect your watch towers: watch towers can be brought down by melee units early on since boiling oil isn't available. build a ring of 4 houses around a watch tower to protect it from melee attackers, or 4 single column of wall.

Learn which relics are useful: ones like tusk of iron boar/sistrum o' bast are must gets, the monkey head relic you can skip

Learn to anticipate offensives - this is a huge topic by itself for another post but 1 simple example here: going up against a zeus opponent. if he goes hermes, expect centaur harassment on your villagers, and prepare to counter by making heroes or ranged/fast moving units. if he goes athena, you might encounter a mass hoplite rush, which you need to prepare for with counter-infantry.

Which Age of Empires game should I play

I am new to the Age of Empires franchise and I’m torn between Age of Empires 2 Definitive and Age of Empires 3 Definitive. I’m slightly leaning towards the latter because when Age of Empires 4 comes out it will be set in the Medieval era and it would be nice to have the contrast between era’s. Any input is welcome!

aoe2 meets "typical serbian guy" meme

hi guys, I was wondering if you'd appreciate some of the aoe2 memes made with the "typical serbian guy" template. For reference, "typical serbian guy" is uneducated but thinks highly of himself. He knows very little but has an opinion on every subject, one he won't change no matter how much evidence he is confronted with. Here goes nothing :)

Favourite opening build and why

What‘s your favourite opening or build order in online games? I know there are many factors to take into consideration like map choice, civ matchups, whether if it‘s a team game or not, etc., but which build order seems to be working best for you?

Lately I like the m@a into archers build a lot. It is hard to pull of with microing and keeping your eco running but I think it has very much potential once you manage to do it properly. What are your thoughts?

As graphics technology is becoming more advanced, pixelated focused games (like Shovel Knight) or graphics that are made to appear pixelated (like King of Fighters 13) still hold a certain flair that is difficult to describe yet it is so appealing

I am not sure if this is coming from a place of nostalgia towards a simpler time of gaming but I do admit that I admire it the appeal of pixelated focused games, or game are made to appear pixelated instead of overly complex and detailed and hyper-realistic.

Lots of indie games have this pixel-focused type of art - Stardew Valley, Shovel Knight, Always Legacy and Evoland (some of it anyway); and others blend with the advanced technology of today to give the sprites a more HD look while also making the graphics appear pixelated (like 2.5D type of technology) like King of Fighters 13, Chrono Trigger, or even recent entries like Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition or Factorio.

I still enjoy playing games like Caesar 3 or even the old Doom games.

I sometimes think that the jump to 3D does not always work with some games like Pokemon (they do not look bad but I miss the old pixelated graphics), but I feel that pixelated graphics hold a certain candle that is difficult to describe.

I see this a lot when I play Doom with mods - it is hyper-detailed but in its own way appear if I play it from the point of view of a more advanced and complex graphics engine, the flair would feel the same

Meta Suggestion: add the Decroynm bot to /r/aoe2

The Decronym bot scans threads for acronyms and initialisms, etc and adds a single comment explaining the meaning of each. I think it would really help newer players learn the game. You may be familiar with it if you browse subs like /r/spacex.

It's relatively simple to build a database for the bot, and I'd be happy to do that work.

I get this error message at random times during matches. Sometimes it’s 5 minutes into a game sometimes it’s an hour in. I haven’t been able to complete a game since this started happening after the new event launch.

I don’t have any antivirus software, only windows defender. I have tried disabling firewall, AOE is whitelisted on firewall, disabling all defender services, reinstalling the game. I’ve tried everything that I’ve read online with no luck.

Any ideas?

Found a bug where you're able to see opponents civs with "hide civs" turned on

So i was playing a custom 2v2 the other day with my brother and some friends. We had hidden civ turned on.

My two opponents went colours one and two (blue and red)

I want to go pink because its the superior team, and as I begin to cycle through the colours I realise I can see the civilisations that the other team had picked.

Say blue had picked vikings, when i made my colour blue I could see that his civ was vikings

I dont have pics to back this up because we just wanted to our play games and I didnt think to save evidence, but im not crazy i swear it exists

What is the most historically inaccurate combat mechanic in AoE2?

Watching the newest SotL video had me wondering how different the game would be if crossbows and arbs had to actually reload, significantly reducing their hit and run potential. Or how different petards could be if the units could "reload" their explosive pack back at the castle.

My review of Age of Mythology

Recommended.

Age of Mythology (AOM) is, in my opinion, the best game in the Age of Empires series. The idea to syncretize ancient civilizations with their gods intervening with their powers and mythological units was brilliant. The human soldiers being grabbed by a cyclops, legs desperatly moving in the air, and then being tossed back into his friends while knocking down trees gives a sentiment of helplessness against the superhuman forces of the mythic creatures in place in this universe. The gods also help the humans, providing healing or thicker armor; acting in favor of their economies by providing a prosperous harvest, rain or even attacking the enemy's economy with locust swarms that eat every farm on their sight (and even the villagers on their way).

The gameplay is fairly dynamic, with battles being fought with large armies quite quickly instead of a long and protracted building phase as in older RTS games. This almost straight to action approach, with buildings being destroyed by the troops way faster than in earlier games in the series (with the also fast capacity for rebuilding them) gives Age of Mythology a more dramatic and fast-paced gameplay. Buildings aren't all powerful fortified obstacles that can only be breached by siege weapons (they do help, but are not essential) but they can form a fortified position when mutually supported by troops. The human soldiers fight in rock-paper-scissors counters: infantry with lances beat cavalry, who beats archers, that in turn beat infantry; plus specialized troops augmenting or changing such roles (archers beat infantry, but the fast running Huskarl will close-in fast and kill them). The mythological units are powerful but there are heroes in the game that will counter them. The same principle applies to naval warfare.

On the economic field, you have food, wood, gold and favour. While the first three are self-explanatory, favour is especific to this game and plays a great role: it is the protection your civilization receive from the gods. Each faction has a different way of gaining favour: the Greeks pray at the temple while the Egyptians build monuments. Each civilization has three major gods that will affect it in a particular way. At each Age you have to choose a minor god to advance, granting you a special power and a different myth unit. Gods also provide different research improvements and almost all of them cost favor. The game revolves around building and mantaining city centers, that not only provide the training of villagers, but also increase your population count and need to be built in especific and limited places; making it an strategic objective in-game.

The game has five campaigns but only the original one is good. The community does not allow discussions and is very weak in guides. Strategies, build orders... all of this must be researched outside Steam. Another problem is the lack of balance. The first expansion added the Atlanteans, that are awfully overpowered. They do not need to build resource depots (the mark of lazy design), they do not need to build any especific building for gaining favour (their city centers automatically generate favour), their buildings are stronger than everybody's and their villagers are small tanks with far more hitpoints - any of their units can become heroes... The Norse are the only ones to build heroes in unlimited numbers already on the Archaic Age and this leads to very cheap early rushes. The major god Loki summons myth units for Norse heroes fighting, so it is no surprise so many players pick this god. The Chinese, while not a bad faction, had such a lazy campaign, with boring missions and awfully crude cinematics (worse than the ones on the AOM original release)! Worse, the Chinese expansion changes the menu presentation and the theme music - which I hated - and does not provide an option for the traditional menu.

With those problems aside (like few people still playing the game), AOM is a great experience and I still to this day get a smile when I listen to the songs and sounds of this game (Prostagma?). The original campaign is a Tour de Force following the hero Arkantos and his friends through the myths of the ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Norse; with you fighting the Trojan War with Ajax and the like under the guidance of Athena. The visuals are great, with the gods of AOM being among the best portrayals of those mythical figures that I have ever seen. Playing this game with friends, even against the AI, is always garanteed fun. Highly recommended.

I wrote this review on Steam, if you like it give me a thumbs up there. Thank you.

Adjusting to new Arabia help

So I've been sitting comfortably at 1150-1250 (DE) for months now. I hadn't really been able to improve too much, I still struggled a lot when lamed and adjusting to bad map types. However, the new map changes to Arabia have been devestating - I dropped to 1036 in just 3 days. The strategies I felt most comfortable with were either going drush fast castle or going feudal scouts. But suddenly, these strategies are just not cutting it on Arabia for me. Has anyone else noticed a sudden shift in the meta? Is anyone else adopting a different strategy for Arabia that I'm not catching on to?

Awesome community

I was playing a 1v1 earlier today, and I had to pause the game for about a minute, to which my opponent obliged. After a minute, it turned into something that would be about 5 minutes, which I let my opponent know.

I said do you mind waiting, or I'll resign right now and you get the win. To my surprise my opponent graciously waited.

There are some really nice people in this community. The good ones far outweigh the bad. This is a big part of the reason I enjoy playing Aoe2.

What civ is most like Zerg playstyle from SC?

Out of the 3 races in SC, I liked playing the Macro-heavy style of Zergs. All about that expanding territory, build up the eco, and steamroll them with sheer, brute force. I would like to play a civ similar to that style of play, but I am very lost so I would like some advice on that.

Bogsveigir should be buffed

the last nerf of this unit made them too weak, Bogsveigir provide very little compared to the other Hill fort units. Theoretically they should excel against myth units, but their base damage is so low, that you need a mass of them and an eternity to kill a tankier myth unit.

There is also the problem that they are only trainable in the hill fort, where you usually want to spam rams and depending on the situation huscarls / jarls.

My suggestion would be to revert those nerfs, or make them trainable in the longhouse in the heroic age. An idea would also be an upgrade that gives them bonus damage against infantry units.

Do Woad Raiders still have an attack bonus vs buildings?

I've seen contradictory statements on this. The tech tree seems to indicate that they do not, but I know they used to.

If not, what's the best use for them?

If so, is it ever preferable to go champion?

Can you give tip How play to Russia?

Recently, I listened DE, so I waiting that.

Well, But I played age 3 almost 5 years ago, so I forget all play method.

Anyway, I look around all civs and Russia real look interesting.

They have Blockhouse so I can defense with it. And they have cheaper infantry and cav.

And I think Cossacks are real good units and Oprichniks are real funny units.

So, I want to get some tips for play Russia.

I want to play that well, but their unique systems, and no settler cards, Strelet's poor range make me hard.

*What is good choice first cards? They don't have settler cards.

*How I can fight enemies powerful Cav, like Mahout. Cav carcher are decent?

*Are there something I need to know play Russia?

3 Balance Hot Takes nobody asked for

Just like everyone I like thinking about the game balance, considering both the input you get listening to pro players and the fun of playing in lower or unrated games. I present 3 ideas i have thought about for a while and done some minor testing on:

-Remove Crop Rotation and Heavy Plough (!) from Khmer

This is meant to address the dominance Khmer seem to have nowadays because of their eco bonus, especially in (late game) team games. I personally think it's really amazing that a civ like Khmer that was undeniably the worst 1v1 RM civ in the game managed to pick up that much wind because of just one (even if quite significant) little change. That being said, Khmer being the more or less only civ to reliably go for Battle Elephants also leads to a bit of a dislike for the unit itself. Some changes in the past trying to address that tended to nerf elephants overall, thereby making non-Khmer elephants even more situational. The reason Khmer elephants are so dangerous (besides also having arguably the best ones) is because they have the food eco to afford them. Taking away their farm upgrades wouldn't change that (although heavy Plough ever so slightly increases gathering speed), but it would lead to a much less reliable eco in the late game, because you will just be burning through would with ~80 farms.

-Remove Squires from Mayans (but maybe decrease El Dorado research time again)

Mayan Eagles have always been (once you have all your upgrades) the best eagles in the game (not that there are many others to compare them to). They also rely on Plumed Archers throughout most of the mid to late game, before eventually tech switching into eagles for late game raids. Whereas Incas and Aztecs have to solely rely on their eagles for that, Mayans have a second great option, their Plumes. Taking away squires would hinder the Mayan raiding ability in the late game, which tends to be the way to close out the game for them. They would still play similarly throughout the midgame, but wouldn't be as good as the other two civs if they don't get Castles up/have to rely on eagles.

-decrease the Wheelbarrow research time to 55s (was 75s, Hand Cart is also 55s)

This change is meant to implicitly nerf the Viking eco advantage. They would go from essentially having a 3 vil lead in Feudal and an additional 2 in Castle age to about 2 in each age, which isn't that big of a change, but at least should give other civilizations the possibility of booming along a bit. As I've explained in another post asking about the Viking eco problem, it's really tough to nerf them in a way that doesn't make them obsolete, no fun to play or step out of the regular mechanics of the game. This is the one I'm most torn about, as this will impact every other civ as well, essentially making booming a bit easier in Feudal Age, which might not be too problematic though.

Thanks for reading through and I'm always happy to hear everyone's thoughts and destructive criticism

Tips on beating Goths on arena?

Im so sick of running into goths players on arena. Im about 900 elo (im not good i know) and i play random civ almost always. However, its almost every day i run into a goths spammer on arena in my ranked queue. Ive tried literally every strat i can think of to beat them. From celt siege spam, franks early castle knight+rams, aztecs jaguar and eagle spam, etc. Nothing i do can get to the goths player fast enough to win a game. Even in the case of the franks early castle attack i get in his eco, kill 6 barracks, 2 tcs, all the vills in his main eco, and still lose because hes behind another gate with layers of buildings with 3 more tcs, and 4 minutes later he has 100 pikemen running my whole army into the ground and destroying me. Im just so sick of playing against goths, how do i beat this cov on arena??

Can we please get buffs for less used units in the game?

My main one is siege tower since with a little buff, it really opens up Arena as soon as you hit castle age.

Also maybe a elephant archer buff even if it is situational.

Im sure you could gather metrics from pro games for unit use and quantify which units need a buff and monitor over time to see if it improves/worsens use

Edit: elephant archer. Not battle elephants

Just resigned a 3v3 because a guy walled in my Monk who beat him to a relic by a tiny thread, and shot it with a Mangonel.

Don't fucking lame your teammates. If someone beat you to a relic, you either accept it or ask them for the relic. What you don't do is kill their monk and make them waste 100 gold because they got to a relic first.

T90 should pay more attention lining up the overlay with player positions

Now I know that he reads the reddit on times, so maybe this is the beste way to reach him with this:

Please, please T90 take your time at the START of every match to align the overlay with the player positions. And if you restart your overlay adjust it AGAIN. Make it the first thing to check, because this is hugely distracting.

I don't know if others have the same problem (i guess i'll find out), but I always look up on the interface to the position the player has on the map, even if one is just slightly to the top right and the other to the bottom left, I will look up to the right site to see the stats of the player for the top right.

I just cant get that out of my brain, it takes usually half the match, and only ever works if I know the players. If the names are new to me it is even more confusing. And then you change it in the middle of the match after enough people complained that you read it in chat, and I have to realign my brain again (although easier that way round), or you restart your overlay in the middle of the match because of some bug and then do not pay attention to realign it again.

I appreciate the effort you put into getting that overlay, and your 1v1 overlay is still the best one (and pretty much the only usable one) out there, but please take your time to properly align it to player positions. This is extremely important for the quality of your cast and really is not much effort...

Barbarossa Brawl - How on earth do you survive 20 minutes?

I've managed 18 mins a few times, but honestly after blue joins in it's just so hopeless it's not even particularly fun.

I start off slowing down to 1.0, then place two TCs, one by the stone and one by the gold, along with a market. I send my scout up to get the cumans, and bring them down to my castle. I build houses along the northwest and east bridges, then build a castle on the northwest bridge.

I make 10 TKs at the initial castle, and that + the cumans seems to be enough to survive the onslaught of Knights from green with some units left over, sometimes. Sometimes they all just die.

I make about 10 vills at each TC, for food, gold, and stone. I've yet to even get close to running out of wood considering the food limit, so I've not been focusing on that.

I then build a castle on the east bridge, and garrison both castles with 5 TKs. I then basically sit there sniping the seige with the castles to fend off orange and most of purple.

And then I die. Blue comes and sweeps through and destroys the TC. If I try to deal with blue, orange and purple overwhelm me. By this point I'm out of stone, so it's not like I can just build more castles.

I've tried making pikemen from an array of barracks, but I just end up too low on food and they basically do nothing. I've tried going to imp for ETK, but that just uses way too many resources to be even slightly viable. I've tried walling all access, but that just makes the AI go a bit weird and go straight for my vills instead of attempting to take down the castles.

I've got absolutely no idea what on earth I should be doing here, but there just seems to be no way for a noob to get even close to 20 minutes. The blue onslaught comes early enough that it will always overwhelm me, and by that point orange has managed to get my castle down and raided through my gold vills.

Does anyone have any nice consistent strats to get the 20 mins? I'm honestly not really having much fun with this, especially considering there's a ticking clock on the event and I need to get it done for the pretzel mod.

I hate timed unlocks.
