Help!

Hello, I played this game when I was like 7 years old and now i’m starting to play again thanks to steam! My question is: how to get good at this game,. I know that you have to get to the next age in like 5 minutes. But every time I go online I do not have the resources to defend or attack... I usually die in the first 12 minutes. So any tips? I usually play, zeus/hades or Ra/Isis. Please help! What to do for a good economy and stuff
