Why I don't like Voobly, but I'm forced to play on it.

I have Voobly installed but don't rly like to play there. I wanna explain why I don't like it. And why I feel like I'm forced to use it anyway.

I see so much cons by using Voobly.

First there was the installation.

I remember the installation didn't worked first and I was giving it up and just didn't played the game for a while, because Voobly didn't worked and the standart Client is considered bad. I can imagine that many people given up on this installation and just don't play the game anymore. But than I succesfully installed Voobly and than just wanted to play a game immediately. Was it a better expirience than standart client? No! When I was ingame in a 3v3 game in arabia I noticed that I can't even play the game properly. Why? Because the resolution of the game was very broken(very low) and all my hotkeys from aoe2hd were gone. I figured out how to fix this( it was not rly intuitive), but there are still other issues.

Voobly in generall feels so crapy for me. For example, I have a second screen. I like to watch youtube or other stuff on my second screen, when I play games. Everytime I use Voobly some of the content of my second screen moves to my screen where the game is running in fullscreen mode. So I don't see it anymore. This is so anoying and I didn't find a way to fix this. The resolution settings are correct but this keeps happening anyway. I also want to play on fullscreen mode but to fix this I tried to play on windowed mode. But how? Where can I activate windowed mode? I hosted a game and enabled to start on the single player menu. I didn't find it, because you can't do it there. So I gived up. Also the Hotkeys. There is a way to bring your aoe2hd hotkeys too voobly, but again it's not rly intuitive and additionally it didn't work. Maybe I did someting wrong, but I don't know why I should do this crap. I just manually fixed all my hotkeys...

Also I need to minimize all the windows that voobly uses(like 3 windows wtf), because they move to my second screen and also blocking my view to the content. When I Tab out from the game to fix this the content of my second screen, it moves again to the other screen. It's just not working. Voobly is a horribly expirience for me so far. Don't wanna be mean to the developers of voobly, but I consider this software outdated and bad like the standart aoe2 client itself. Voobly has some obvious pros ofc, we all know them and you can feel free to post it here if you feel like it. Maybe voobly is slightly better than the standart client because of the overlay options for casting and stuff, but overall it's still not good enough. Just for the casual for fun players this is definitly not fun to use(at least for me).

Also I think that Voobly is scaring off alot of potential new players. They look to the game and find out that the client is considered bad, or they find out by themselfs. Than they notice that they need to install a additionall software, because all the competetive people are playing there. They go through the crapy installation, that sometimes just don't work, just to be confronted with all the problems that I had.

I had some friends I played this game with. We played on the standart client and it was fun, but then we wanted to get more into this game and play with other people, too. When we noticed that we need a additionall crapy software for that, they just quit playing the game.

How much potentiall this game would have, if this issues wouldn't be there. I would like to play this game more, but in the same time and don't wanna use Voobly. The majority of competetive playing people are on Voobly, this makes the expirience on the standart client even worst. For me it would be better, if all the people from Voobly would come to play on the standart client, but this is of course not gonna happen. I guess I'm forced to use a additional crapy software(Voobly) that I dont want.

I don't say that you guys doing it wrong or something. Don't understand me wrong this ist not a flame post. I just don't like that I'm kind of forced to use Voobly, and wanted to write about that and the issues of Voobly.

TL;DR I wanna play this game more, but I don't wanna use Voobly. I have the problem that the majority of the players(competetive player) are on Voobly. So the expirience on the standart client gets even more worst. Voobly has many technical issues for me like mentionet in this post and I cant enjoy the game on Voobly. I also think that many potential new players quit aoe2, because they dont want to install additional crapy software.
