You can build a tower touching an opponent's, just make sure to throw up some walls before your opponent realizes what's going on. Should only try it when they don't have enough stone for another tower.

Fire ship projectiles are blocked by buildings like walls . . . or docks. Use this to win a 1v1 or even 2v1 fire galley battle without taking any damage. Just move your fire galley so a corner of your dock is between it and the enemy fire galleys.
