Do any top old-school players watch the modern AoE2 pros?

I've been playing AoE2 since 2003 when my classmate gave me a burned copy of the game on CD. Subsequently in high school I spent lots of time lurking on AoKHeaven, reading the forums and even watching replays of "pro" games the old-fashioned way (i.e. downloading the recorded game file).

Much more recently, I've been getting into watching all the modern content on YouTube (T90 et al.). I have been wondering what all the original top players would think of the modern meta. Specifically, I remember the perception back then was that the best player was Myll_Slaghter [sic] - is he some middle-aged guy right now? Are people like him aware of the modern resurgence in popularity of AoE2? How would they compare if they went up against TheViper and the rest?
