Winning with dirty tactics?

So, let's just say you play four lakes ranked 1v1 and play turks. Say that mid-late game you start getting wrecked. So you build mass town centers accross the map, those slowly get wiped, but produce some profits. All the profits are used to make 30 extra range cannon galleons and a few transport ships loaded with villagers in a lake. Then say the game goes on for 7 hours before a resignation because nothing can kill the ships, and enemy docks can't be built. All fair in love and war?
