I remember back in the day in Age of Empires 3, the game was a ton of fun, but the problem was if any single person in the game had a slow network connection, the entire game would slow down for everyone. It would get to the point where a game that normally lasts 40 minutes would last 4 hours, and it would often come down to who had to leave first.
For this reason, 4v4's were pretty much never played because the lag was almost always unbearable.
Then you also had people that would just intentionally lag switch to keep the game stuck when they're about to lose so their rating wasn't impacted.
Did age of empires 2 fix this so that it uses a client-server model? Or is it still peer to peer networking and a lagfest if one person in the game lags? Did they change the overall multiplayer experience too?
Just trying to set some expectations for AOE3 :)
