Should I be playing more casually?
I got DE about a few days ago and started playing ranked multiplayer matches.
In my fourth match I was playing Arabia as Mongols vs Huns, I ended up losing a villager to a boar, so I decided to go all in and tower my opponent's wood line. I got three towers in and was taking his gold for a while until he counter-towered, and I had to retreat with my villagers. I saw he was making archers so I made scouts at the stable and walled up.
He attacked and killed one of my villagers hunting deer, but I cleared the archer army with my scouts and focused on getting to Castle age. I was actually two minutes late, but my opponent was not punishing me at all and was too scared to push into my eco.
Basically it gave me time to boom and get to imperial age, and I controlled a strategic part of the map with Mangudais. My numbers were low so I had to micro them on his knights while taking our his horse archers with skirmishers. I took out one of his castles and he plotted a castle in the same location and ended up having 25 villagers massacred.
Then he called me a tryhard and some Spanish swears and quit the game.
Am I taking the game too seriously? Should I play casual games?
