Is it worth only playing 1 civ to learn the basics?

Or should I random civ and learn to adapt earlier. I'm currently playing Japanese, and I have a 20 pop scout rush down, and I'm learning fast castle as well.

I know Japanese are flexible and they have a small eco boost with cheaper camps/mills. The scout rush I use relies on the cheaper mill/camps, and wouldn't be doable with other civs

Should I stay with Japanese and focus on learning things like build orders/eco balance/scouting? Or should I pick civs without eco bonuses and learn build orders that way?
