Is m@a into scouts a thing?

Newbie here.

On open maps, I see a lot of men at arms build orders that go into archers or towers, but not scouts.

Is it because people are usually walled up by that time? Or something with the resources? Am I overlooking something?

If your civ favours calvary instead of archers, would it make sense to follow up a m@a rush with scouts? Or just go for fast castle based on your early pressure?
