Where to find TEAMS of treaty players.

Every Friday Night me my Dad and my siblings + cousin pray Treaty 20min games. We communicate on discord and play around 4 or 5 matches. I usually host the game with a explanatory title something like: "4v4 me and my Fam against You all TR20". Randoms come in and play against our team.

However, we would like play against other full team of players who play together and communicate with themselves, for a fun and even matchup.

Is there some place we can find teams of players to come in to our server when we are around? Something like a Discord Server for treaty games?

Advanced Market in Water Booms

Is there anyway this card is worth the shipment in a Water Boom strategy? Ideally as Ports, which I’d be playing. I often find myself floating upwards of 3k Food while struggling with other resources when I do this strategy. Converting some of that into other resources instantly in a 1-time deal is a tempting idea. Without a card that trades all of 1 resource for another like some civs have, using the Market within reason seems like the next best alternative. So what are the facts about Advanced Market to consider? What about alongside the Dutch team Market card in a niche team strategy, or for the purposes of assuming the best case scenario?

Man, I miss Fire Pits.

I mean fire pits was glorious. Community plaza is just non-sensical. How villagers talking to each other
would boost the morale of soldiers and making them do more damage or produce elite warriors??

By dancing for the gods around the fire is most relevant and nodding to history too

Shouldn't the AI in DE do other strategies instead of just rushing?

Hey guys, I've been playing a lot of DE recently, mostly for the US Challenges and to train other civs (I used to play Russians almost exclusively)

Doing these challenges/training, I noticed that the AI seems to ALWAYS rush -> lose steam -> lose game. Its almost a formula, doesn't matter what civ they get (I leave it at random), they will always rush rush rush then suddenly lose steam by Fortress and proceed to lose the game. Isn't that a problem? AoE2:DE suffers from the exact same issue I feel, the AI never changes its strategy and becomes so formulaic that I think you can't reliably train strategies against them.

I play on Hard, Hardest and Extreme depending on my familiarity with the civ (with Native/Asian civs I play Moderate because I suck with them)

Maps with lots of cliffs, relative to map size?

Maps with lots of cliffs, relative to map size?

I realized today that Mongolia only generates lots of cliffs on smaller map sizes. If you compare the smaller sizes to bigger sizes, you can see that the proportion of cliffs to the rest of the map decreases the larger the map size is, like there's only a set number of cliffs regardless of map size. Image attached demonstrates this- you get somewhere around 30 cliffs of varying sizes per map, regardless of map size:

This disappointed me some, I really liked how on small sizes Mongolia had lots of distinct elevation features and more of a feeling of asymmetry and interesting terrain flow which made locations very distinct and memorable, rather than like "Everyone has one island" or "theres one mountain in the middle and otherwise everything around it is samey". Not complaining about those things- that sort of design is very valuable for competitive play and so on, but I just wanted some weird random terrain to spice up casual play especially for ludicrous map sizes.

Are there any maps that generate lots of cliffs even on ludicrous map sizes?

Is anyone else not getting arabia?

I have it favourited and last ten (now 11) matches in a row have been other maps, it's really annoying as my opponents keep alt-f4ing and I've to requeue then - therefore I presume they too have arabia favourited? I've even tried unfavouriting arabia!

I keep messing around by banning different maps and it doesn't seem to matter just get whatever is not banned that's not arabia.

It's just leading to unmatched games, as at my level myself and my opponents don't know how to play certain maps (eg I've played golden swamp 4 times and each time my opponent didn't know to build a dock so I just flatten them without a fight).

You can unlock the new cheat codes only during the event, and I don't think that's okay

I'm fine with cosmetic unlocks being only available during an event, but cheat codes are gameplay content that you miss out on if you are late to the party.

I'm losing very bad to cavalry on Arabia (900 elo)

I have no idea how to counter them. I try to wall up as fast as I can, train my army to raid and also training spears to deal with the cav. I survive Feudal but when I reach castle I get beaten up really bad.

Is flemish revolution the most broken and OP tech in the game?

In my opinion it is.

I don't mean that the tech is uncounterable or guarantees a win, probably the tech has not more than 20% success rate.

My problem with the tech is that it basically gives a player on a severely losing position an undeserved second chance to get a win by simply clicking a button. So, even if the success rate of the tech is low, researching the tech from a losing position is a win-win situation because if you lose... Whatever, you probably would have lost anyway, while if you win you're basically getting a win you would and should have never got. As far as I know no other tech gives you this chance and I think this mechanic is just bad for competitive play.

One possible counter argument may be "it's a risky tech, to research the tech you basically lose your eco". IMO this is false, there's basically no risk in researching the tech if you research it from a severely losing position, when you're about to lose your eco anyway. There is no skill involved aswell, little to no planning required, and what bothers me is the potential of the tech to steal a win from a more deserving opponent, that is really bad and detrimental for a game which is trying to gain a spot in Esport scene.

IMHO there is no possible redemption for the tech, even if you nerf flemish militias and lower the success rate, it's always gonna be too high compared to the chances you have when you research the tech on certain spots. I really hope for a rework, the concept of instantly turning vills into military just doesn't belong to age2.

[Help] If I purchase "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition EU Windows 10 CD Key" for my friend who lives in England, will they be able to play with me even though I'm in Australia?

So essentially, I got linked a copy of AOE2 and I'd like to buy it for my friend but the link is called "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition EU Windows 10 CD Key" and says "Cannot be activated in Australia"

I assume this means that they will have to be in EU to enable it but then after that they can play anywhere. Is this the case? Or will they be region locked?

Interest in 4k AOE2DE streams?

I just downloaded the UHD DLC, and the game looks stunning in 4k resolution. Is there an interest in either stream content producing/consuming of aoe2de in high bitrate quality? It seems like only youtube would support this. High requirement for streamer (upload 20-50Mbps for 4k@60 vs 6Mbps for 1080p@60), but medium requirement for viewer.

What is your favorite "weird" strategy?

I just finished my 100th game on the ranked ladder and am happy with my 1k elo placement. I know I'm not a fast player, but I'm getting better. I have the most fun when trying off meta strategies. For example I spent an entire evening deleting my Persian town center in dark age and rebuilding it next to my opponent. I'm also looking into a build order for Huang's endless militia into fast castle.

In order to increase my skill and elo I SHOULD practice "meta" strategies, but I have the most fun with stranger build orders. So what is a wacky strategy that you have had success with? Bonus points if you have a build order you can share.

Ungarrison hotkey question

Hi there, wanted to know if anyone has figured out how to work the ungarrison hotkey properly, or if there is another command line to make it work like it should.

The issue is that what i want to happen is to garrison my villagers in the TC, then click on some resource and then press the ungarrison hotkey to make those villies go to that resource, but instead of that what it happens is that when i press the ungarrison hotkey, they exit the TC and just stand there, still.

The same happnes with fishing ships

Stuck on a USA challenge.

I'm stuck on the challenge Vermont "revolt while playing the French in a skirmish/multiplayer game. I cant find the option to revolt. Can't complete Oklahoma Challenge?

The challenge says ''Recruit 10 Comancheros, Guachos, Morochucos or Vaqueros in a single Skirmish/Multiplayer game.

I've done that twice (got 10 Comancheros from the Tavern/Native Embassy).

What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Nevermind, I somehow did it. The first two times I tried normal games. The 3rd time I did a deathmatch and it worked for some reason.

Why did they get rid of mixed difficulty AI?

Just the title really. Did I imagine that? I'm sure you could face, for example two Standard and a Hard if you wanted. I play with my...let's say very mixed ability friends, and we struggle to find the right balance against the AI to have a balanced game. Moderate is too easy for me even if we're massively outnumbered, and facing Hard is either very easy if I can rush one of them down or very difficult if I can't rush one of them down and get 2v1'd while my mates are still struggling up to Feudal. It surely can't be that hard to implement. I think letting us mix would help a lot! End up with a more rewarding game that becomes a set of smaller 1v1s.

What are the conditions to 'deploy an ironclad'

I can't figure out how to send an ironclad after a revolt. Every time I try the game tells me I'm over the limit for the unit.

I tried different revolt nations, different maps (all water obviously), different factions to revolt from... Also rebooted my game and PC just in case. No dice.

Do you guys have a clue as to how this works?

Nebraska challenge sucks

Upgrade a trade route to the iron horse. The default map it assigned me had a trade route. I start it, notice it doesnt have the stage cost. I upgrade it anyway. The final upgrade is iron lama. I upgraded that because its the exact same thing but a different name. It did not count. Why couldnt the programmers tag that as acceptable?

Now that the US is a full civilization they should replace them as a revolution option.

I think The Republic of Texas would be the best fit since the US revolution is focused on forts and everyone knows about the Alamo. In fact if you choose Texas as a state while playing as the US civilization both of their home city cards are fort focused so they could represent Texas between its independence and it becoming part of the US

In-Game Timer disappeared.

Hey, my In-Game Timer disappeared. I fooled around with some mods and stuff and since March patch it was (I think) that the timer (that can be shown by F11) is gone for good. I can see it nowhere on the screen. I use Minimalistic UI mod, but other than that, just small trees, and stuff like that, that should not change any UI elements.

Would love to see an Eco Efficiency stat

Basically I'm thinking total gathered resources/total villager minutes. It would be an interesting economic stat to see in combination with idle TC time and idle villager time. It would be a good performance metric for keeping one's vils on task.

How to activate installed mods?

Hello everyone,

I have installed some mods from the mod manager in aoe3 de, but im having a hard time trying to make it take effect in gameplay. The mod is called “higher limits”.

When selecting a skirmish mode it doesn’t let me select any mods. What steps am i missing? Ive messed with the scenario editor too but couldn’t come up with a solution. I just need it for the single-player mode.

Civs for Boom + Adapting

Hi All,

I'm a new player who's mostly been playing lots of early cavalry aggression with Magyars, and it's time for me to start expanding my strategy/playstyle. I think that it would be informative to play a more boom-and-adapt playstyle next, as that would force me out of my comfort zone and essentially be the exact opposite of what I've been practicing so far.

Byzantines certainly come to mind as a good choice for this with their cheap trash and high building HP facilitating defensive play, but I'm wondering if there are other good adaptation/generalist civs that I should look into? I know this is kind of the Chinese's calling card but I hover between 1000-1100 ELO and their opening scares me. Who else should I be looking into for this? Malians with their cheap buildings?

He will join your game then leave it 10 minutes in , Many players are reporting the same thing, especially treaty players. Please block and report him

He did this 3x in one day just to me, and is continuing to ruin other players days. Some of us do not have the luxury of being able to play multiple treaty games a day, and fitting in a game can be tough, especially when an ass decides to try to ruin the fun for everyone.

Creating Civilization in Scenario Editor

Was thinking of making a mod but it got really confusing so I ended up “creating” the Romans by enabling Legionary/Centurion creation at castle. I used the Goths as my civilization with Italian architecture, changed the name via trigger, disabled some techs, enabled some. This is for fun but I was wondering what techs should I enable/disable if I were to create a late Roman civilization?

Is it just me or after the latest patch unit pathing became sticky.

This is hard to describe but i feel like after the last patch the pathing has become a lot more sticky. Units are getting stuck in corners where in earlier games they would easily move arround such tight corners. I was playing a game as the portuguese. And i had dragoons behind my cassasdores. Now the cassadores were blocking the wall gap so the dragoons were not able to cross the wall. Earlier the dragoons would have moved between the cassadores. Now they get stuck unless i move the cassadores. Happened to me with sheep and villagers too.

What’s the appropriate way to deal with archers, as Malay?

I know that you have perfectly serviceable archers yourself, with your economy; I’m more specifically talking about if it reaches imperial age, against a proper archer civ (britons/Mayans/Vietnamese). You definitely don’t want any cavalry; you don’t have siege ram; karambits, seem too flimsy; and while your own archers are solid, playing archers vs. archers against an archer civ seems like a losing strategy. So, what’s the plan?

Does Lithuanian Drush work for larger maps?

Hello and welcome back for another Age of Empires 2 civilization match up discussion! Below are some match up-specific talking points to get you all started. These are just to give people ideas, you do not need to address them specifically if you do not want to!

  • Interesting one here imo! For 1v1 on open maps, I would say that both of these civs are upper-mid-tier-ish, with both having some powerful options, but also missing a long-term eco bonus. Byzantines are insanely consistent with their strong trash units and defenses, but Japanese have some very potent aggressive options with their swordsmen, and are certainly no slouches when it comes to cost-efficient late game armies. Who do you favor?
  • On hybrid maps, Japanese and Byzantines are both very popular civs. Hybrid maps tend to be very aggressive on the water in early Feudal Age, so tanky Japanese Fishing Ships and deadly Byzantine Fire Ships really have the chance to shine. Japanese also have the early wood savings, but Byzantines are still really tough to dislodge. Which civ do you prefer on maps like Cross and Baltic?
  • In team games, both of these civs obviously prefer to be flank, where both are quite powerful, if not quite top-tier. Both possess fully upgraded Arbalests and powerful Halbs. Japanese have Kataparuto trebs in late game whereas Byzantines have gunpowder. Both even have strong tower options for a late game slow push. Which civ do you prefer as a flank?

Has anyone run AOE2DE on an M1 Mac?

Using the Windows on ARM insider preview with Parallels, certain games should be able to work on the new M1 macs. I’m considering getting an M1 Mac Mini for my main system (I’ll still have my Windows tower around, mostly mining for cryptocurrency in the basement) and I’d love to have an idea if there are any incompatibilities preventing AoE from working in this setup currently. It’s the only game I play and I don’t want to have to play it in the basement.

If anyone hasn’t tried but has the equipment to test this at some point that would be wicked!

Is lagging in large MP games just a fact of AoE2?

I don't seem to be able to play a large hosted multiplayer game without delay and inevitable massive stuttering. It's not my PC, I've played 24 player WC3 FFAs with perfect ping and performance and regularly play 12 player matches of Brood War with only slight performance issues when playing with Russians or South Americans (due to the turnrate system)

Is this lag just the reality of hosted AoE2 multiplayer or is it fixable somehow?

China has no healing units?!!!

I've recently started to recognize the usefulness of healing units and I've realized China is the only civ that really doesn't have any healing units. Sure, the Shaolin Master can gain the ability if you build the Temple of Heaven wonder but, that is almost never one of the first two wonders built if using the best strategies.

There should at least be an upgrade for the Shaolin master to heal units in the Monastery. (Like Japan has for their Ikko Ikki). I feel like this would be a simple update.

Some say China needs to be buffed. Well, I say they should AT LEAST have this ability that every other civ has.

What do you guys think?

Effective gather rates for huntables

While settlers gather from hunts at a base rate of 0.86 food/s, this does not factor in all the time they spend shooting deer, walking to each deer, and walking to new herds.

So, I ran tests using 15 hunters split into 2 groups of 7-8 on Central Plain, which I think has about average hunt density. Over a period of 15 minutes per run, those hunters gather from around 5-6 of the herds, or 1/3 of the map. In one test, I herded about as much as I do in a multiplayer game; that is, I always sent a settler to new hunts to start shooting them towards my TC, but once the rest of the group was on that herd, I didn't really stay on top of it. In another, I really tried hard to keep all hunts as close to the TC as possible, as I expect would be more akin to a high-level game. Lastly, this excludes the idle time accrued from switching settlers between different resources constantly, since they always stayed on hunts. Also, I never let them idle; this is purely the gather rate of hunters actually hunting.

Here are my results:

Effective hunt rate (some herding towards TC) - 0.738 food/s

Effective hunt rate (excessive herding) - 0.771 food/s

I think a good rule of thumb (if you like making build orders and need these rates) is 0.75 food/s for hunts. On a side note, I also looked at the effect of the increased settler speed and damage of USA villagers with French Immigration. This seemed to make settlers hunt about 2% faster, a nice (albeit tiny) side effect of the card.

Settler speed bonuses (like USA's French Immigrants card) massively boost gather rates at mills/estates

tl;dr - the 0.5 villager speed boost from the USA's French Immigration gives settlers gathering at mills and estates an 18% multiplicative boost to gather rate.

For those who don't know, the base gather rates for mills and estates displayed on the UI (0.67 food/s and 0.5 gold/s, respectively) are outright fibs.

This is because settlers tasked to those buildings spend just as much time walking around them and bumping into each other as they do actually gathering, so the real gather rates are (by my measurement) about 0.405 food/s for mills, and 0.311 gold/s for estates. This is why these buildings are so much worse than natural resources, and should be transitioned to as late as possible.

Anyways, with so much time spent walking around, do increases to villager speed (i.e. French Immigration card for USA, which bumps speed up from 4 to 4.5) significantly reduce the wasted time for these gatherers? As it turns out, yes!

I ran tests as USA with 10 un-upgraded settlers, un-upgraded mills and estates, and measured the total resources gathered over multiple 5 minute intervals. I then did the exact same thing, only having shipped French Immigration. Here are my results:

- Mill gather rate (no Immigration) = 0.405

- Mill gather rate (with Immigration) = 0.476

- Estate gather rate (no Immigration) = 0.311

- Estate gather rate (with Immigration) = 0.368

This translates to an ~18% multiplicative increase to both mill and estate gather rate, which might just be the biggest treaty economic upgrade card in the game!

Some things to note:

- Farms and Rice Paddies have lower nominal gather rates, but do not have the idle time that mills and estates do, so they end up being roughly equal to their European counterparts in base productivity. I haven't crunched the numbers on these, but because of this I doubt that villager speed (such as that Inca card) would benefit them to the same level.

- This explains a lot to me about the quality of the French treaty economy. Coureurs should also have these relatively better gather rates on mills and estates (more than their 1.25x multiplier), since they innately have 4.5 speed.

- I tried this with hunts too, since there is a lot of idle time in shooting each deer and walking over to them. Alas, I only measured a (roughly) 2% boost to effective hunt gather rate.

Feel free to experiment on this for yourselves (if you want to take the time), and let me know if you get different results!

Returning player - how do you handle the swedes?

I was just curious how to handle this civ? They are difficult to raid due to their Torp booms and there aren't many actual villagers to kill. In addition almost all Swedish players are rushing their version of muskets.

Age 3 is typically the point where im 'out boomed'. And they just spam their version of muskets with about 10 cannons behind them.

Age 2 I would to go cav here, but I feel cav gets countered by their muskets.

Should I just go British longbow with culverins here, aiming for an age 3 fight? Can Swedish players even build a stable?

I feel if I don't end the game 10 minutes in it's just game over. Nothing I've seen can match their economy.

Online players of ALLL ratings, especially low, what's your story?

I've been staring at the graph on this site that shows the ratings distribution for online players and where I fall within it and it really just got me thinking about how many of us there are and at all different levels, and especially how huge the group is that's around 900 in 1v1 or 800 in team games.

I mostly only know people around my level, a bunch of try hards who wish we were good. I'm just really interested in the stories of the people from all over this graph and especially lower -- how did you get into online? How long have you been playing in general and how long online specifically? How seriously do you take it? Are you trying to get better, or just enjoying it casually? Do you play alone or with friends? Have you made friends playing online? How often do you play? What's your favorite strat, what do you struggle with?

What language does the Burgundians speak?

I know they speak a language similar to French (civilians say “bonjour” and “pres” when they are selected), but the villagers say “Si” when they are selected. Doesn’t “si “ also mean “yes” in Spanish and Italian?

Side note: since they also had control of the Netherlands and Belgium, don’t they also speak Dutch?

I've found at 1800 elo team game you constantly play against Mayans, Britons flank and Frank pocket.

I've had huge success counter picking archer flanks as koreans and doing skirm/war wagon.

Building a land bridge...

Did you know you could theoretically build a land bridge in the game? Alexander the great-style. It's a long and arduous process that is almost definitely not worth it logistically. but it is fun to play with the idea.

I learned the hard way that you *must* destroy the Fountain of Youth

Played the final mission in Act 1: Blood where Morgan, Lizzie, and Sahin decide they must destroy the Fountain of Youth to keep it out of Alain's hands. I attacked Alain's base and Morgan says that it's too well defended, so we have to go with Plan B and destroy the fountain.

Well screw that! I decided to destroy Alain's base anyway. Got my army in there, killed some villagers, and even fortified some ships and Outposts in the spot where one of his ships spawns every few minutes. I killed every single enemy on the map, happy in my knowledge that I destroyed Alain and saved the Fountain of Youth from destruction.

Only the scenario doesn't end. You don't get any sort of acknowledgement. Just a new ship that spawns every minutes, which I destroy in 3 seconds. After scouring the map several times to make sure I didn't miss any units, I realized you're forced to destroy the Fountain of Youth even with Alain defeated.

It would have been cool to at least get acknowledgement of going above and beyond. Something like Lizzie or Sahin saying "Even with Morgan defeated, it's inevitable that this will some day fall into the wrong hands. We must destroy the Fountain of Youth."

But no, just a scenario ending with the railroaded decision that you have to destroy it.

Fun and Unusual Setups against AI

Sometimes for a changeup I'll try some odd challenges. One is to play against several extreme AI on a team, but use cheats to essentially give myself unlimited resources. It's not quite fair to rush, so I just plan for defense and let the AI advance. It's actually a pretty chaotic challenge depending on the number of opponents.

Other times I'll do the same, but use the 256x mod. Maybe change it up to a death match as well.

What odd scenarios have you tried?

Which civs are naturally good at turtling?

I enjoy building up my colony and getting an economy running in my 1v1 games, but have a bad habit of getting swamped by my opponent in the second or third age. Is there a civ that is good at turtling up and defending against rushes?

I figured the Portuguese would be a good option, but my success rate is not fantastic.

Imperial Skirmisher use

Most of my experience is playing archer civs - a lot of Britons, Byzantines, and Mayans. I've been learning Vietnamese, and I'm curious, does anyone find much use for the Imperial Skirmisher outside of trash wars? In my limited experience so far, any time I might have wanted skirms, I was already producing Rattan Archers to fight enemy crossbow line. But, I could see them becoming more useful as gold runs out and you might be fighting more enemy skirms or pikes. Is there any other major use?

It happened again, home city crash in the middle of an hour long game

4v4 supremacy. We're losing hard. Played for a very long time, over an hour, worked really hard to bring the team back. I manage to get a flank off in their base and start ransacking everything.

All of a sudden, while setting up home city shipments, clicking the home city caused my game to crash. It just blinked out of existence. Again. This is the second time this has happened in a really impactful match.

It's got to be hilarious to be the opponents, you're getting your whole base destroyed when all of a sudden the person destroying your base just surrenders for no reason.

Sorry, but I can't keep doing this. Uninstalling this game today. It was a nice blast of nostalgia but these random buggy crashes are inexcusable. I encourage the rest of you to do the same.

Has anyone tried countering the extreme AI after letting it boom for about 30-40minutes?

So the standard response to successfully defeating the Hardest-Extreme difficulty is to raid and put early pressure on it. I can confirm that by deploying these tactics it's most definitely the most effective way albeit kind of repetitive.

The issue I and a lot of other have is that we want to experience huge late game wars with late game techs but the moment the A.I reaches a certain point it will just SPAM units constantly with no let up. No short breaks, no "second waves" just pure unrelenting unit SPAM if you don't stop it early.

Since this is clearly by design and I don't see a change happening anytime soon, does anyone know any good tactics / unit composition that's fairy effective against the hordes of nonstop units that the A.I will produce in the late game? Has anyone had any success in repelling and defeating a very late game Extreme A.I army?

People who main less popular civs, make your case for your favorite.

Especially low-mid Elo players. What about then covers your weaknesses or plays to your strengths?

I will start. I am 1020 Elo. I play Malians more than any other civ.

Wood bonus that scales with economy requiring nothing from player.

Free gold mining makes an archer rush easy while putting extra vils on farms for faster castle

every castle age tech available

Fully upgraded Farimba heavy camels are insane against cav civs. Their light cav is some of the best in the game, which is good because I sometimes float too much food in the late game.

Champskarls are great for countering meso civs which tend to include archers or skirms in their armies

Redemption monks to counter mangonels at your TC in castle.

Fast working universities allow fast bombard cannons to counter trebs in case opponent makes it up to Imp faster than you. (Happens a lot to me)

Gbeto warriors are just plain fun to use. Good at protecting trebs or bbc in surprisingly low numbers.

Unique tech that has tc’s fire when ungarrisoned helps compensate for no bracer, defensively. Also incentives the creation of more tc’s which I sometimes struggle with.

Who else plays scarcely picked civs for your Elo?

Bought Lords of the West DLC through Microsoft Store, will not give option to install

Hey all, recently got back into AOE2 because of Game Pass making it available for free (what a deal) and I ended up buying the DLC because of the new content. However, while the game recognizes I purchased it, everytime I launch the game it says I need to install...but it doesn’t seem to give an option to. Any ideas how to fix this, or to get a refund?

More slavs?

Despite the wealth of slavic civilizations and principalities during the middle ages. there is a severe lack of slavic peoples represented in the game itself. which can of course be blamed on the erroneous "slav" grouping,but,why has (until the addition of bulgarians) this not been changed? even disproportionately being represented less than east asia (2v3) and far less than latin and germanic europeans

Struggeling against the AI

So I just picked up this game and I am loving it! Unfortunatly I have had some issues with the AI and it could really well be that I am just bad. But I wanted to hear your thoughts on it.

When playing Free for All with a few AI's I just can't seem to find a difficulty sweet spot. When setting the difficulty to moderate the game is a stompfest. The AI builds almost no units so I can easily make three seperate attacks, one on each AI, simultaneously and I will win every front and then just clean up. When increasing the difficulty just one level it all changes. I get destroyed in the early game since the AI seem to be building a lot of units (which is fine) but it also seems like they all gang up on me no matter the map positioning. Shouldn't free for all be a chaotic mess and not an all on one situation?

What are your thoughts on this? Am I just imagining things or can someone relate?
