[serious] aoe2 players, what is a fundamental issue making you dislike aoe4?

Currently there is a "show match" of Age of Empires IV being played on the Redbull channel on Twitch as a way to show off the game in its pre-release stage. Unfortunately chat is quite negative for the most part. I am genuinely curious why people think this way and whether those people even tried out the game in the first place.

I was skeptical as well but after trying out some matches I must say I was pleasantly surprised. There are some things missing or not perfect, but I hope that those can get fixed by release (e.g. DING DING, balancing, better shift queuing, relic pick up). The base game and its mechanics seems solid. It is not aoe2, but it does not try to be. For me it does not feel like a competitive game like aoe2 is, but I might be wrong in this. That does not mean that it is a bad game, however!

So, in an effort to start a serious discussion (gl me, RIP in advance): if you have played the beta and dislike the game, what are your reasons for it?
