AoE2 on Voobly + ultrawide monitor – any review?

Hi all!

Context: I currently play on a 17" @ 1440x900. I'm pretty fine with it but thinking about an upgrade to FHD.

Some options I'm considering:

• 23-24" wide @ FHD (LG 23MP55HQ, DELL P2317H)
• 29" ultrawide @ FHD (LG 29UM69G)

Any feedback about playing aoe2 on UW?

1. Is it possible to force FHD on a UW?
2. I've seen just a few reviews on YT, and UW apparently gets a bit distorted and it takes quite longer to move the cursor from side to side. Anyway, the player didn't seem to play very well (he didn't even used original hotkeys).
3. Haven't seen any pro playing on UW. Is that a signal? LOL
