Probably this is a pretty stupid question, but do Team Bonuses apply in 1v1s? I was wondering about this but couldn't find anything.

A team bonus is a specific civilization bonus in Age of Empires II that applies to both the player's civilization) and all allied players from the start of each game.
Two of the same team bonuses do not stack, but a team bonus can stack with another bonus. It is also important to note that should a player be defeated or resigns, their team bonus
So this kind of implies that Team Bonuses only work in teams of sizes two or greater.
I mostly played Arabia 1v1s and sometimes saw players "select" a team. Does this "activate" the Team Bonus maybe?
