Old AoC recorded game question

So i've got a pretty insignificant problem here, but.. ... i've been watching old Aoe2 recorded games on Aoe2 Conquerors from some 6-7 yrs ago, before HD. There's a couple of records with a correct format (mgx) and in the recorded game files, it shows they are big size, so they do contain a reviewable game played back in the day. When i try to open the record, it fades to black as if to open the record, but immediately returns to the recorded games list and does nothing. So the record doesn't play even tho it's supposed to contain a full-length game (this is also evident from the fact that there's a 3-hour gap before the next recorded game, haha). Any way to fix this? I've heard of the mgx-fix thingie, but does it help here?
