Plenty of scenarios consist of "Destroy X" or "Survive for X amount of time." There's naturally nothing wrong with that, but it'd be fun to come up with some really unique objectives that can add a memorable spin to one's scenario (special mechanics included)!
I'll start: A thieving scenario (or section of a scenario) where you have two units, at least one being able to pick up treasures. The treasure collector has to go into an area to pick up some unguarded treasures, whilst avoing a dangerous enemy patrol. The other unit can stand on a cliff to grant visibility to the trease locations, also revealing some of the patrol patterns. A secondary patrol can threaten that scout unit, forcing both to go into hiding for a while until the coast is clear. Once all treasures have been picked up, the scenario can proceed into the next phase or something.
