Fatal Error upon trying to enter windowed mode

Hi all, I've been trying to search for a fix for this for a while but haven't come up with anything specifically related to what I'm encountering. I've been trying to get my game to go into windowed mode, but every time I try it just gives me a "Fatal Error" popup and CTDs. I've tried manually setting it in the options menu and the Alt+Enter shortcut, both end up with the same error. I have also tried Borderless Gaming, but it just minimizes the window when I click off onto my second monitor, which is what I'm hoping to avoid by trying windowed mode. Anyone able to help?
