Arena Match: Frank's vs Italians

Played an Arena game today. I was Frank's facing against Italians.

We both ended up going scouts in fuedal to get map control. He got to castle first and got his 2 relics close to him but I had more scouts and spearman which still gave me map control enough to capture 3 relics.

I got the score lead and reached imperial first. I went paladins, bombard cannons, and skirmishers and made a big push.

I hit a brick wall in the way of massed Genoese crossbows, bombard cannons, onagers, and hussars. I was foolish and tried to just brute Force my way and patrolled my way when I was at pop.

What would have been a better composition at that point? Hand canonneers, skirms, and onagers?
