Hi,
I have been playing Mayans recently, mostly on land maps like Arabia and LN. I am an ELO 1200 - 1300 player. My usual strategy with them is to go Drush > Archers, pushing the opponent in Fuedal age. Then transitioning to XBows, upgraded with Bodkin arrow and Thumb ring, with siege support (Rams preferred) in Castle. This works well on some occassions. However, there are times when I have been hard countered by Skirms + Mangos, with a few scouts thrown in. It becomes tough for me to counter this, because my trash unit (Pikemen) get pwnd by Skirms. My xbows are busy running / avoiding the mango hits and the opponent is able to almost fully nullify any military advantage I have, mostly turning it into a win for him / her.
I understand transitioning to eagles is possibly the best answer here, or even creating a couple of Mangos of my own. My question is on the transition to Eagles. By this time in Castle age i have invested significantly in Archer line upgrades - How do i transition to Eagles from here? What are the upgrades I should chose to invest in for the Eagles transition and how should I generally play, once I stop producing X Bows and start massing Eagles? Should i mass eagle scouts earlier in Fuedal or wait for massing EWs in castle? Should I be looking to mix in Pikes with Eagles? Or mix in some x-bows? Also, what kind of Siege would I need?
Also, does it make sense to go into a Drush - Eagles build, and abandon the Archers in Fuedal all together? I've never tried it and I'm not sure how it may work?
Thanks in advance for your help!
