How do I not get steamrolled playing against Mayans?

Each game ends in a session of crying in a corner.

Their economy is exceptionally strong, so I can't outproduce or out-boom them. The only thing I've found to slightly work is a krush, but that only delays the inevitable. When they spam eagles at me, my champions are too slow to keep up with them. I don't have the time to mass up cavalry either, but I'm going to chalk that up to me just being bad. Resources are usually too tight for me to start building onagers and rams late game too, even after some fiddling around in the market. I'm trying to move away from playing the Chinese as resources are extremely tight early and I can't collect enough resources to pull off a counterattack.
