I haven't played the game in about 6 months, (I have on and off, but not seriously, mostly trying and failing to find diplo games.) Before I stopped playing, I hit 1100 ELO for the first time and was able to hold there kind of. It was very difficult and I had to go try hard mode every game, using specific build orders etc.
Now that I've come back, however, it is so much easier to stay at 1100 without even trying. I haven't had a close game yet and I'm not even using build orders. I would say it would be very easy to get to 1200 ELO if I actually wanted to play, but that makes no sense. Over time, the skill level at each ELO should increase. I mean, 1100s now should be playing like 1200s 6 months ago. I don't think I have gotten better at all either. I've always used random civs, before and after.
The only difference is that I'm not trying, I'm not using build orders (Though I retain a good amount of game knowledge so I'm easily able to "make" build orders on the fly,) and I don't care about my ELO.
Any thoughts as to why this could be??
