How many control groups do I need for units in end game?

I am currently learning the game and am trying to set up hotkeys ahead of time so I don't have to change and relearn later.

I'm changing the 'Select all ...' buttons to my liking, but was wondering how many group keys I should spare for units? Ex. Would using 1-3 for units and 4-7 for buildings be fine?
