Is there a way to cycle through any selection of units/buildings?

I'm new to the game and trying to learn the hotkeys. There seems to be a hotkey for almost everything you need, but I can't find a general one for cycling through any selection of units/buildings. There's hotkeys for cycling through specific things like Ctrl+B to cycle through barracks, but how can I cycle through a selection of multiple types of buildings?
