Hi all --
As you may know, Valve released a new version of Steam Play that automatically wraps your games with Wine/Proton, meaning you can just click play on your Linux Steam Client and start your Windows-only titles on Linux.

Forbes article on the release:
Not all games are supported, but you can enable it to run even in unsupported games. This may or may not work, obviously.
To play AoE2 on Linux all I had to do was this:
1 - Enable the Steam Beta Client: Go to Steam->Settings. In the account tab, click change in the Steam Beta Update and click on Steam Beta Update
2 - Enable Steam Play for all games: Go again to Settings and on the Steam Play Tab click "Enable Steam Play for all titles"
3 - Download/Install AoE.
4 - Rename "AoK.exe" to "Launcher.exe"
I have only had time to test single-player and it worked great, I'll test multiplayer when I have some time.
I am curious if there are other users that have tried this and what are your experiences. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04, I wonder if other people using other distributions had similar experiences.
Finally, if anyone has any advise on setting up "Voobly+Wololo Kingdoms" in this setup that would be greatly appreciated.
