Hi there. I used to play AoE (yes, the first one) a long time ago (back in 98 til 2004). Then I played some AoK but just with friends or offline. Yesterday I decided to play a match online with random people (2v2 Black Forest). At the beginning I realized I was so ahead in the game (first to feudal/castle), more villagers, more technologies, etc. However, I wasn't sure about how to attack so the game end up going to very late game (where everyone was Imperial Age). Since my ally was way behind us, I tried to attack the enemy close to me. For my surprise, I found a lot of Cavalary Archers and I didn't find any way to break his defense. I tried every kind of unit but didn't work. At the same time, my ally started to die against the other enemy, who also just used Cavalary Archers. Is this normal? They had pretty much 8-10 buildings just producing those Archers. I lost the game because I couldn't handle it even when I was ahead in food/gold. So, any tips/advice you can give me so I can keep playing it online without feeling like I'm noob?
tl;dr - is cav archer the only thing people use nowadays? How to deal with it?
