Can you completely win a 1v1 before Castle Age?

I mean totally removing the player from the game with a rush not just slowing his economy.

I feel like I get overwhelmed when Castle Age hits because there are more troops to manage, and even if I slow down an enemy's economy with a rush they still can have more experience to defeat me in Castle Age because I only played like 6 games.
