I recently started playing AoE2 again, and am *hopelessly* awful. How can a noob like me improve a bit?

By hopelessly bad I mean I'm consistently losing to the medium AI...so pretty bad.

Basically I'm just hoping anyone can point me to some resources that will help me at least get enough of a handle to beat the hard AIs, and maybe eventually beat one or two people online.
