I know many people post about Portuguese and for a good reason. It is a boring civilisation to play.
First the not so controversial stuff. Organ guns should deal actual spread damage. For example
All of the bullets deal 11 pierce + 3 archers/infantry
Normal shoots 4 bullets, elite 5
The real change I want to make is that instead of nerfing the feitorias gold production and making the civilisation more like normal we make the Portuguese the civ with a ton of gold but weak wood/food eco.
Feitorias only produce gold at higher rate of 1.5/s (3 shaft miners or relics)
Feitorias cost 400 gold, 400 wood, 15 pop
Units cost -20% gold in Castle, -25% in Imp
Remove Heavy plow and Crop rotation
This would give Portuguese nearly infinite gold but at the cost of low population cap and bad food/wood economy. Feitoria only producing gold would also remove the infinite BBT:s and infinite ships on watermaps. Feitoria is now a good investment for lategame but an expensive one.
If the lack of heavy plow is not enough to balance the infinite gold income.
Two-man saw could be removed
Guilds could be removed (expensive to trade for wood/food/stone)
Halberdier could be removed
These changes would make Portuguese more special with noticeable niche of trading food/wood for gold.
