VHF telemetry

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place but im sure someone will know here. Basically the problem i have is I work at an airport and someone has an open mic on an operational frequency in the VHF band.

How would one go about tracking the location of this frequency? I understand the basic concept of signals triangulation etc, Im more curious as to the equipment required.

Can this be accomplished through say fox hunt apps or any app etc or is specific equipment required?
