Kamayuk accuracy

I was watching the SoTL video on the Incas and realized something. All other infantry units that do ranged damage have accuracy applied to their projectiles. So I am wondering, how does the game consider the Kamayuk's ranged attack? Is it treated like a projectile and thus has a chance to miss, or is it seen as a melee attack and therefore guaranteed to hit?

I don't have the scenario editor skills needed to test this theory so if anyone else would like to contribute thoughts or evidence, feel free.
