Best civ for Golden Pit?

Hey all!

I've not played Gold Rush or Golden Pit yet, but I'm interested in trying it out, since the dynamics look really interesting to me.

What civ does the best on Golden Pit? Having watched several games on the map, I would think a civ that has a super-strong gold-heavy army for when it has the middle, but can still be tough without gold. So, Turks would be bad because of their addiction to gold, while Magyars would be sub-par because their gold army isn't that much stronger than their trash army.

What are your suggestions?
