It has been mentioned that, when doing a fast castle with Malay, instead of making as many villagers as possible in dark age, it might be better to go fast to feudal to take advantage of eco upgrades, and then click up to castle at the same time you normally would. I was wondering if someone had a build that works for this, because I've been trying to do it and just can't.
Details: I'm assuming the equivalent of a 27+2 FC with stable+blacksmith, with the intention of doing knights from one stable and TCs. A normal civ gets to castle at 15:50; the closest Malay equivalent is 15:55 with 34 pop at the time of clicking up. This can be done either as is standard by doing 32+2, or by going up to feudal age at 21 or 22 pop and then making a lot of farms with the hopes of clicking up at 34 pop.
I tried the 32+2 build and it works very well; I have so many resources that I think it could easily be done with two villagers less. But going up to feudal at 21 pop and making farms and sending villagers to gold, I just don't have enough resources to click up. It's not a question of eco balance, either: I have the right amount of gold and no extra wood, but not enough food.
Has anyone done this successfully?
