Idea for an Outpost buff

We all know Outposts are broderline useless, not counting the very few niche situations (like keeping an eye on your woodline on BF). But It is not really used, and I think it is because 2 reasons mainly:

  • Houses are better "outposts" than actual Outposts are in general. Their hitpoints, melee armor and pierce armor increases as you age up, while it is not true for Outposts. Houses are also cheaper, provide housing, and can act as a barrier.

  • Outposts LOS is not really great compared to Houses and Towers.

So here ill list a few of my ideas how to fix Outposts:

  • Town Watch and Town Patrol techs only gives +1 LOS to Houses (instead of the usual +4 LOS for most other buildings).

  • Outpost base hit points: 650 (dark age, from 500), 750 (feudal), 850 (castle), 950 (imp)

  • Outposts defense stat buff: 1 pierce armor (feudal, from 0), 1 melee armor (feudal, from 0).

  • Outpost LOS increase: 10 (dark age, from 6), 11 (feudal, from 8), 12 (castle, from 10), 13 (imp, from 12). As you see, the intent here is to give Outposts more use in the early-mid game where they could be more useful and used, while only increasing its LOS by +1 total.

  • Outposts now make a distinctive ZING sound, when attacked (so you know instantly).

  • New Castle Age University tech for Outposts: Strenghtened Outposts (cost:10g 25s) +3 pierce armor, +200 HP in Castle Age, +150 HP in Imperial.

  • New Castle Age University tech for Outposts: Specialized Sentinels (cost: 30g 55s) +1 LOS for Outposts, +1 extra LOS if Outpost is placed on Elevation.

  • Small nerf: Ouposts now require 20 or 25 seconds to build (from 15).

So the absolute maximum Outposts LOS with this buff would be 23, making it the best LOS building

The general idea was to make them valid as a map intelligence building, not tanky, but also not something that goes down under 10 seconds by a handful of rush units. I know it may seem pretty drastic at first glance, especially on the House nerf front, but houses should stop being Outposts, while Outposts remain pretty much unused. By no means the above numbers/ideas are set in stone, just a few ideas I quickly came up with.
