Just played a game against a 2872 TG with a teammate thats 447 TG. names are 104 pls, 7tc558, and presumably chinese characters for the other two.
Absolutely silly to be 1700 TG and match with these clowns 11
Please bail if you match against those chumps, save yourself the wasted time. 11
GLHF to everyone playing fairly :)
Hi, I am new in AoE2DE. I've played 100 ranked 1vs1 game with 50% winrate and some unranked games. I always wish glhf at the beginning of the game and type gg when I lose and I've never done anything toxic (believe me, I've played DotA, which afaik was considered to have a toxic community at some point, and I know how turn my failures into valuable lessons and have some self-control).
But still I often get banned or kicked from unranked lobbies and I have no idea on it.
Can you tell me, if there are some unwritten rules I have to know to be able to play unranked games?
Hello my friends, how are you?
I come here to tell you the coaching is back (did it ever stop?) and I'm opening 5 new spots.
So if you are:
- Tired of getting stuck in your elo hell
- Have the desire to become the new top player and be a millionare earning lots of money through AoE tournaments
- Just want to beat your friends who are better than you
- Just want to have more knowledge about the game so you can blame pro players in twitch chat calling their mistakes
If you apply in any of these categories and would like to know more about how it works, just send me a PM here or an email to [dogaoaoe@gmail.com](mailto:dogaoaoe@gmail.com) and I will be happy to answer.
Thank you!
Some civilizations excel at a single unit or strategy on Arabia (see Britons, Franks, Lithuanians) but others are above average in a variety of units and strategies (Inca, Japanese, etc.) I think picking a well rounded civ allows average players to learn the game well. What are your preferred “Jack of all Trades” civs? I consider any civ that has full castle age upgrades, bloodlines, and thumb ring, and cavalier To be well rounded.
Vikings mirror gets a bit tiring

Is there an app out there that shows for example how many hits does a longsword need to kill a pikeman, or a skirmisher an archer with and without the upgrades? Like this for example : https://pvpoke.com/battle/1500/aerodactyl/charizard/11/1-5-2/3-1-2/
Mostly I play 1v1 at 800 ELO. I assumed 1v1 would be the most popular game type but it seems team games are more popular. Why is that so? It seems one person going full cav and another going full archers is the strategy 80% of the time. Feels like that should get old.
What fun will I find in team games?
What is the most popular team size? 3v3?
This is regarding multiplayer

yes that's the whole post
Have you guys noticed any difference in the the quality of match-ups since the May update? Said update promised 'the effect of normalizing ELO ratings naturally' and reducing imbalanced games, but has that actually had any effect on the quality of your games OR your Team ELO progression?
Been finding it interesting to test units against each other in scenario editor. But is there a way to add specific cards and upgrades to the units? And is there a way to get them at the same time rather than one side firing first?
I have been playing the game now for a year and have a fair few 1v1 and team RM under my belt. But I am really struggling to break through the 1k Elo barrier. My max Elo is 1042 (low of 900ish).
I have studied a few build orders now (Mayan, Frank's, Chinese, Celts etc) and have a decent feudal time and ok castle time.
I know the units and what counters what.
But how do I lift my game and improve my Elo? Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated.
How to HOST RANKED game in AOM extended? I have like 12 friends who play together almost every weekend. We want to host a small tournament within our group and wish to be it a Ranked game. I saw one video on youtube where along with "Public" there was an option of "Ranked" as well when creating or hosting a game, whereas I do not see it available in my hosted games. (Screenshot below) [link] [comments] |
I would like to get some experience with Aztecs but despite them beeing a top tier 1v1 civ, I struggle to see them thriving in team games. You get a great eco starting in feudal, you can get to imp faster, those seem to be the main advantages. But without thumbring, archers will be lacking starting mid castle and it doesn't get better in imp. Eagles could be decent but they struggle against knights from the pocket and you don't get halbs which could help with siege strategies.
What are your experiences, how do pros use them in team games and what important points am I missing?

Hello to everyone. As you know, the victories and losses we have won in the ranked games we play are calculated and kept in memory. So, is there a parameter to be calculated separately for each civilization we play? If not, I think it can be a nice detail that can be added to the game.
I've decided to give this game a proper shot, I played a bunch as a kid but I didn't really know what I was doing lol. SC2 has been my game of choice in terms of RTS for the longest time and I did play a good bit of AOE3 when that was remastered. However my AOE2 knowledge is quite lacking in terms of actual competitive skill.
What are some culture shock moments I should expect? I played Protoss in SC2 and I'm planning on playing ottomans in this game.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Not sure about you guys, but I got really interested in Medieval History because of AoE2. I love these videos from SoTL and hope that anyone who watches his more conventional videos gives this a like to show that you appreciate the time and effort he spends on his videos, especially the AoE2 vs History videos that are underrated and take a lot to make.
It is possible to play this game there?

Can a Frank picking Arabia only ALT+F4er legitimately claim to be as skilled as their ELO suggests? What do you guys think?
I wanna know what's the favourite army comp that community loves to play with. I am not talking only about meta or effectiveness, I want you to focus also on the 'fun factor'.
For me: 1) Tatars HCA + Hussar 2) Mayans EEW + Halbs + Siege Ram 3) Turks elite Janissaries + Hussar + BBC 4) Berbers elite Camel Archers + Hussar
With the card American allies from the Inca, you basically have an early age 2 dragoon that can snare and with extra hitpoints from your warchief's aura. Are they valiable? Or their animation and cost make them completely irrelevant in the meta?
Dude this game is just so fun it’s crazy that like america can fight China in Africa now and it’s a game about colonialism more or less it just goes crazy.
1500+ player here. This is something that always happens to me when playing as an archer civ vs a cavalry civ - Franks are not the only one, but they're the most common, and the smoothest to play.
What always ends up happening is that after an even-ish feudal age we get to castle at at most the same time, because you can't really match the food economy of Franks going scouts+walls. And when we reach castle age, I never have enough crossbows to comfortably move out into the map, since the meta nowadays is to go only one range at first - if I do two ranges, my castle time will be delayed even more. And crossbows caught out in the open can be very easily killed by knights unless you have a good mass.
So what happens is that I have to do monks and ballistics to feel like I have a chance, while Franks are massing knights and booming at the same time. And by the time I feel like I can try to engage, they already have a forward siege plus 20+ knights, and it's all downhill from there.
So what can I do? I can try to be very aggressive in feudal in the hopes of delaying castle age for both of us so that I can have more numbers, but there's no guarantee of getting through walls, and the other player can always do skirms. I can go extreme stone wall defense and 1 TC fast imp, but that seems risky at best. And if I just sit back and boom, I will die to the knights+siege. What are my options?
Hello guys, I am currently creating some maps on the scenario editor and would need some help with triggers specifically.
If you know someone that is good at triggers or maybe there is a discord group for this let me know.
The problem I am currently facing is making an infinite loop for fish, as when it's depleted the trigger should replace it instantly.
Step 1: Join ranked queue
Step 2: Have opponent pause the game
Step 3: Press the delete hotkey (ie Backspace by default)
Step 4: Your screen has moved!
One downside of this is that your unit is now deleted
I recently decided to play around a bit with the editor, and I stumbled over a couple of things that seem to make it clear, that it was certainly not the focus of DE's QA team.
-Apparently the Cinematics tab is completely useless, as it is currently not possible to play any cinematics before or after a scenario. The selections you make here are simply ignored by the game. If you're making a custom campaign it is also not possible to display the scenario instructions on a so called 'card' beforehand like in the actual campaigns. The corresponding dropdown menu is completely empty! And I know for a fact you could easily choose any existing campaign backdrops for your own campaign scenario in the original game.
-Slightly related to that: the "map" for custom campaigns where you select your scenarios is completely white and empty. It seems like both this, and the flags representing the individual scenarios were at some point supposed to be customizable as well, but apparently that's not the case yet.
-Another thing that jumped out to me is how stupidly complicated it is to paly a sound. There is no dropdown menu, or any other kind of UI solution to pick out the sound you want. You have to manually type the sound event's name into the box. I don't know how one is supposed to figure out these names. Right now the only option seems to be a google spreadsheet that some kind soul provides in this Steam guide for the editor. I know it was probably like this in the originnal game as well, but there you could simply use the name of the individual sound file in the game forders. This is not possible now in DE, because the sound is stored differently. This just seems like a huge oversight, to not simplify the sound selection process.
-The third and final eyebrow raiser for me personally was the horrible german translation of the editor's interface, to the point where I had to google some options to figure out what they mean. I won't bore you with specific examples but it's the typical, technically correct 1:1 translation that makes absolutely no sense in the context. Reeks of Google translate, which is weird, because I haven't encountered such blunders in the rest of the game. I wouldn't be surprised, if other languages are facing the same problem in the editor. But even knowing the original english wording doesn't really help sometimes, so it's up to trial and error, to figure out what does what. Tooltips would help a lot here.
Right now it seems to me like the Editor in AoE2 DE was pretty much an afterthought. I don't really know how much they expanded its features compared to HD or even the original game, but there seems to be so much quality of life potential for DE that was just ignored and seems to be still missing today. The most recent list of bugs and other problems I could find was this post on AoK Heaven from december 2020.
Since I could barely find any information about this topic I wanted to ask you guys: Did you have similar expierences with the editor? Is the lackluster state of the editor generally known? Does anyone know if there are still improvements to be expected?
Been bouncing in this range forever now, win one, lose one, win one, lose one. I don't wanna be the best I would just like to reach my goal of 1400. Anyone know what key elements 13XX players lack?

I used to play Aoe2 long, long ago and it was one of my favorite games. I just got the DE edition and I love the new graphics and all the new civs and quality of life changes. I would also really love to play multiplayer BUT I'm really bad at the game. I can beat the moderate AI but the hard AI kicks my ass.
So I thought I'd try to get better before playing online but then I watched a few T90 Low ELO legends videos and some of those guys were making massive mistakes that even I didn't make. So I thought hey, maybe I can play online. I queued up, got matched as Berbers against a Goths player and got my ass kicked in like 10 minutes. I had barely gotten to Feudal Age when swarm after swarm of man-at-arms began to overwhelm my base. My plan was to rush to Castle Age and get knights but couldn't even make it there. Needless to say, I resigned almost immediately. I checked my opponent's player profile and he was a beginner like me. And he kicked my ass effortlessly. Now it's like I have PTSD. I want to play online but I get anxious whenever I see the multiplayer menu.
To make a long story short, as someone who can't beat the hard AI, should I just stop trying to play online? What skill level do I need to play online? I don't want to climb high on the leaderboards or anything, just have fun and play casually against others. But I also realize that if I'm an extreme noob and everyone else is at least competent, it's not going to be very fun for me.
I guess my question is, when exactly should I start playing online?
Hi guys im trying to achieve victory with every civ and im stuck with Sicilians. Even after three victories with them the achievement hasnt unlocked
I an using Small Trees and a grid mod but no cheats
Any ideas why?
With the track pad and clever button assignment I think its doable. Most likely could play it on Ultra as well.

Change Indian UU to be a regular Battle Elephant with bonuses in castle and three different UU upgrades, like Eevee (that's a clever reference for all you Pokemon afficionados).
One being Elephant Archer the other two idk Fire Elephant and Ice Elephant, whatever.
Where the song starts like with DauT saying, "I am not a wizard, I am fricking Gandalf". Searched in Google but didn't find any results.

As the tile said, for the last weeks I have found myself overthinking about games before sleeping. I would go to bed, close my eyes, and go over the lost games and why I lost them (I'm around 1050 elo, so there are lots of things still to learn). For example, last game I wanted to rush CA with Mongols... In feudal age. Then I learnt I could create them in castle age, so I should have gone scouts, or knights, etc. Something similar with Cumans, I wanted to forward a siege workshop but I had to build blacksmith first. These are the things I 'learn' before being able to sleep. The thing is, is this normal? I don't think it is affecting my mental health, I love the game and I really like learning. But I considered uninstalling it. Any thoughts?

I see pros often garrison their vills and release them while farming or assigning tasks. I couldn’t tell what exactly they are doing and what operations they are doing cuz they are so fast. Can anyone tell? Are they using garrison to drop food? Or are they doing this to redistribute the villagers to new farms? Why not just right click the TC to drop them or select your villagers and then directly assign them to farms? What are the benefits of doing the TC?
Hello! I am currently making a fan made patch for August and, instead of basing it winrate like my other fan made patches, I am basing it on play rate.
Now for the General changes I need your help, because I don't want to make balance changes that nobody wants/likes which will upset anyone reading it. So I need you to leave your suggestions on what overused or underused unit to change.
Thanks all for the help you give!
I will delete this post after it has gotten at least a few suggestions (so the moderators don't have to), so you better put what unit you want changed in the comments quickly!
Socotra, hideout, baltic are turbo un-fun and nomad and megarandom is just an insta resign. I use my ban on arabia because thats what all smurfs play with favorited. Elo hell is real with this rotation

I was thinking Mongol Scout Rush + Mangudai to counter the Celt's powerful siege in late game, or Inca tower rush and Eage Warrior to counter siege? What would your strategy be?

Hello, i have some super annoying sound bug that lets me hear every shooting and some other sounds on the map, including ennemies!
this is super annoying in team games where i get shooting sound everywhere and its really confusing.
Example: an ennemy is fighting off a teamate raid in his base and i will hear it so loud its like my own base is being raided...
It can actually be useful in some situations, i can pintpoint ennemy villagers from the sound they make shooting herds or chopping wood.
Anyone had that issue ?
Thanks
I had tons of fun doing the USA challenges. I am also having tons of fun playing as the USA. So I was wondering whether the devs should release each revolution as a full playable civilization.
Revolutions have always been kinda weak and difficult to make them work in games.

Ok, so I was going to write a whole story about how my enemy Frank player, using knights, realised that I had a lot of camels and when he realised that he paused to overthink his decission, but that was the wrong assumption.
So the story goes that when he launches his first real push, after some early raids, he starts attacking my first mining camp, with my vills on it. So I show up with my camels to stop his attack and then he pauses. Me, with my preconcieved opinion, thinks that he finally realised that I had camels and that this is just some convienently timed pause. So I just unpaused, as I didn't want him to take the time to overthink is decision to attack and turn the new found knowledge into an advantage, this is an RTS after all.
So we pause and unpause a few times back and forth. He says food please and then we keep playing.
After the match I rewatch the replay as I didn't want to start making up a story/post based on the vague memory of an adrenaline rushed late teenager with an ELO in the mid 800s. I find out from the replay that he must have known that I had camels, as I first countered a small raid consisting out of a knight and a few scouts in early Castle Age with camels. After that I try to raid him back, but seeing that he added houses behind the pallisades of hideout. I decided that it would be better to turn this raid into a scouting mission, during which I figure he must have seen my camels after a scorpion starts attacking me and his knights follow my camels for a while. Now we come when he tries to raid again (Which I thought was a push), during which the pause happend shortly after my camels show up.
In the end I was wrong in assuming that he didn't know of my camels. I wish I had kept the pause on and just asked why. After the match I didn't really apologize to him, probably due to the adrenaline again. Even when he tolled me that he had to open the door after the bell rang. I still feel bad about this sooo....
Rainer Winkler (my opponent), I'd like to publicly apologize for unjustly unpausing and I hope that you are doing well.
P.S. Devs, would it be possible that when somebody pauses that the whole screen turns black to prevent the gathering of information about the match?
To me it seems exactly the same difficulty as on single player but there are now two human players so it's far too easy on the hardest difficulty. Anyone agree?
I have never really played PvP before, let alone actually tried to get good at it. I'm currently just below 1k.
I still make mistakes while being pressured, but that's precisely why I adapted one of the earliest aggression builds possible (18 Pop Lithuanian Scouts) and can even still pull it off on Crater despite the missing boar. I normally should make Feudal before most opponents at my level even click up, so on that map specifically, I should have a massive advantage.
I have 0 TC idle until Castle Age most of the time, and I received compliments for my Scout Micro from players way stronger than me. I always get the pressure up.
Yet when it comes to joining the Queue, I am just too afraid to even click the button. I know I take it too seriously, and once the game starts, win or lose, I thoroughly enjoy it, but there's some part of my mind that just stops me from even playing. Heck, I play a lot of team games lately, there I feel relaxed, but I don't enjoy them as much as 1v1s. It makes no sense to me.
I think I just need someone to get me to stop making excuses and play. But this stupid anxiety is just paralyzing for me at the moment.
Don’t stop grinding everyone, it all comes together !
Like the portuguese were featured first in AoE III and later in The African Kingdoms in AoE2 HD, the Hausa kingdom can be a good third african civ for DE.
What do you think?
I mean they have lower base dmg. But why? They could have higher dmg but lower RoF.
Gun powder all have atleast 3.0 RoF, only the rifle rider has 1.5?
Is there a way to remove the capture age integration in the game? I don't use that tool, just more unnecessary buttons in the menu, i even ask me why they added it in the game, if so they should minimum include it completely as full version, but not just linking to the site where you need download it manually.
Hello everyone!
This August from the 1st to the 22nd I am again fundraising for the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia! Last year the AoE Community came together and raised a whopping A$20,202!!! This is an incredible amount and is still something I'm trying to process...
It's with much excitement that I'll be streaming across different time-zones and hosting a variety of events to drive donations towards this extremely worthy cause. I won't overload this post with too much info, but the basic plan is:
- 14 streams planned including rigged showmatches with Nili, Vinch, Hera among others, AoE2 bingo, co-op campaigns, live music, William Wallace ultra-hardcore and more!
- over 14 giveaways, at least one each day, including Dawn of the Dukes, official AoE merchandise, T90 casting, Age of Empires IV, and the major prize of a SecretLab chair!! (min donation required to enter)
- a A$5,000 goal with eight milestone rewards planned along the way, including releasing a new AoE Parody Song and creating a Bulgarian Konnik cosplay!
For further details about what is planned for my fundraiser, titled "Reach for the Stars", please head to the aoezone link below, jump into my Discord for any updates, and tune in on Twitch to catch all the action live!
Last year we really achieved something very special, and I'm so keen to make some more memories and brighten the lives of more children in hospitals across Australia.

I don’t use that many hotkeys, but the ones I do help a lot so I would really like to improve that part of my game. However, it feels somewhat overwhelming with everything one needs to remember. Can you recommend a tutorial or a general strategy for improving hotkey use? Perhaps just with the essentials. Thanks.
Hello, I have been watching AoE2 videos and have decided I can't hold out any longer and want to purchase the game. However, which is the correct one for on Steam? Is the one most people play the Definitive Edition, or the 2013 version? Thank-you guys and sorry for the dumb question, I looked for an FAQ before posting to no avail!
Right now I managed to start with decent resources. My problem is usually about army. Usually I got problem creating the army. Seems like it takes too much for me to create a army.
Also not 100% sure what army is better to create.
Any tutorial good for this? I've searched a few at google but they didn't help.
What army to focus (I mostly play Huns/Vikings), number of troops and number of villagers, how create army fast without zeroing your resources. Those stuff!
Can someone make a Where's Wally (Where's Waldo) but it's a picture of AoE2 villagers please.
I play regulary with an friend 2v2 ranked. He als Dutch, me as Lakota. We do well but we struggle against turtel strats and long ongoing end game.
We decide to switch aroubd wirh factions, but didnt go well, he teied germans and brits. Me was trying aztec and Iroky.
Is the synergie bad? Ony tips what to play instead of lakota or durch (similar to them)
Also I want to know your ideas for possible extensions e.g. Japanese mythology etc.
Here's the plan, me and other three players join a private lobby, set up a game of regicide with all visible and just send the king to the Player 1 base to be killed, rinse and repeat until all four of us have the achievement. Who's up for it?
Which unit combination you enjoy, playing most? And why?
For me its Janissaries and Abus Guns, because the Janis can tank and protect pretty good, and they rock in melee mode, and the Abusguns are pretty good to deal with heavy inf (even tho Janis are good enough against other musketeer type units), light cav, skirmisher and artillery. So you got a pretty solid combination in early game which is very hard to deal with in early game. Especially age 2.
My second is Cassadors and Dragoons, because they are pretty versatile aswell. I used to make Dragoons while my brother build Cassadors, so most Armies hat also a hard time to deal with us. Highspeed and long range really help here. Only downside is the low siege dmg here which you must compensate with mortars.
That market one, I assume you don't start trading with that until lategame like you would anyway? Unless your own market is denied. Maybe Spanish more viable for a change? Italians? Not much use until lategame mind. The crater one looks like it might be quite small so you kind of use Socotra strats - lots of aggression, maybe pre-Mill drush?
I'm quite inexperienced in a lot of ways so new maps can throw me a bit if there's a very obvious meta that I'm not aware of (I got whipped on Atacama because I completely lost control of the wooded area and then realised I didn't have any left and it turns out Indians destroy everything on African Clearing).
I am more familiar with Hideout but not actually what the meta is, I assume trushing is pretty strong, maybe Donjon rushing these days as well?
Valley I sort of know as well, I guess the meta there is Mongols or Mongols, and if you get bored then there's always Mongols. Or, joking aside, I guess good farming/berry/herdable civs if you don't want to risk going for the hunt?
I don't necessarily need to follow the meta but it's nice to know what it is so I know what to predict from other players.
Cheers!
Hello,
What's the current strategy with the Tatars? Are they good? Do you use the height bonus? I find it difficult.
I've had it happen two times in the last week that I played team games with friends in the evening and then the next day wanted to play some 1v1, but accidently queued for team games with randomly matched players. When you join a new queue (alone) it keeps your old settings (for example, queueing for 2v2 the day before) and just adds 1v1. I don't find this very intuitive. Either it should disselect everything besides 1v1 or, maybe the better solution, it should just have nothing selected so that you have to make a choice before queuing and don't accidently queue for the wrong game.
Obviously this should only be reset on game restart because often you play multiple team games or 1v1s in a row, so resetting it every time after a game does not make sense. However I think, when you play the next day or even days after again you don't necessarily remember or check the settings and just queue - leading to people ending up in team games (or 1v1) they didn't want to play or people dodging to requeue.
how can i train to generate less idle tc time?
In my noob 1600 ELO opinion, besides utilizing a fast feudal scout rush to damage fast, there's really nothing at all the mongols can do about tatar tanky CA. Sure they could throw in some siege but the tatar player can just camp a hill, abuse their long range trebs and never engage with the siege. The Keishik is also very gold effective in the late game and the elite upgrade has 7 pierce armor
The lack of +2 on both archer and cav units really handicaps Mongols. The Mangudai is worthless against fully upgraded +7p cav archers
I was Slavs and holding quite well… until he massed camel archer. Any good idea to counter that with Slavs?
I lost a 1v1, turk fast imp -> GG. We were chatting afterwords and I said "I hate turks 11" and it bleeped it out. I understand that censoring out hateful comments and curse words has the effect of preserving the positive, welcoming nature of this community, but this player demographic skews older (I would imagine most players are in their 20's and 30s). We can handle some cursing.
Many times totally innocent sentences are bleeped out, and because this censoring tool is so smart, no matter how I try to re-word what I was trying to say, it still bleeps it out.
Thanks for your consideration.
Yeah the title says it, I need to know how to make army compositions? This is a more broad question than asking for specific empires but I tend to play stuff like Goths and Slavs
Cheers in advance
so i recently started playing the game after a few months break, I fell from 1380 elo down to 1150, on the way back up im being accused of being a smurf when i play well
BUT ive faced a number of players with 1500+ matches, without any major breaks.. and find those games nearly impossible..
so im beating guys with <400 matches fairly easily yet facing players with 1500+ at the same elo, and they peaked at something like 1250.. I cant imagine they are all smurfs, how does someone play so many matches yet not go up in elo? and these are guys 1 tricking civs as well (eg china or franks) so we cant blame it on random handicapping them
So every once in a while I run into a story from the past that makes me think "That would be an amazing aoe2 campaign" but recently in an interview I heard the head developer say that when considering what to add as a new civ they start with "is there a good story to tell" I've heard him say this in two different interviews, so I post some of the ideas I have, hoping at least one dev will see it and maybe inspire the creation of new civs and campaigns. I've already proposed stories for Swiss and Serbia, and I have two more possible civ campaigns as well as one for a civ that doesn't have a campaign. As always if you have any good campaign ideas let us know
Yazid I, and the second fitna- After succeeding his father as the head of the umayyad caliphate Yazid I faced a number of factions that opposed him, plunging the caliphate into civil war. In this campaign you would play as the Persians
Ashott II- After his father was tortured and executed by the Emir of Azerbaijan Ashott the iron took the throne, fighting the Arab invaders and the puppet they hoped would be king. In this campaign you would play as the Armenians
Tamar the great- Becoming ruler of Georgia at a young age, and under the shadows of her predacessors, Tamar must continue the legacy of her ancestors, expanding Georgia and defeating the Turkish enemies surrounding her kingdom. In this campaign you would play as the Georgians
Again, please let us know what you would like to see as campaigns in the game
People complain about Alt+F4 becoming literally crybabies saying something among the lines of "You don't deserve to be in your elo because you literally play only BF/Arena/Arabia and know how to Boom - You need to be able to play more maps!!1!eleven"
While proceeding to pick the same civ they have played the last 50 games on in the same position (Flank or Pocket) doing the same rush/boom build every single game.
And before you say "yeah but Alt+f4 causing Queues to drop and people waited super long to get into that game" - well first, the matchmaking is literal BS, If you look at 1v1 Queue for example you get the same opponent that queued up right after your first game ended and to wait what? 2 minutes to play him again, even tho he probably queued at the same time or shortly after/earlier? It must be coded so poorly that it takes this long if you think about it, same goes for TG as well.
Next up Civ and Position pickers also ruin the fun for some players just because you don't know any other civ and any other strat other than walling, FC and knight spam 24/7 as Franks, Teutons or Burgundians.
Yeah I get it, you are sooooo good, playing arabia and then letting your flank die so you are the hero with your 20 FU knights smashing everything and when you still lose its that flanks fault because it couldn't defend/rebuild/make enough units/win a 1v2/didn't wall/tower/boom, because YOU have the highest score in the team and therefore YOU carried.
I recently got back into ranked starting at around 1800-1900 and got smoked, falling to 1500. I'm not sure if people at that ranked are more toxic or that games gotten a little more toxic and poor resign etiquette. People on my team and the other team just resign after getting rushed. Is the game as a whole getting a little more toxic or has the average rank always been toxic?
If I just won a ranked game, it shows my civ as 'my best civ'. That is weird because i had e.g. 5 losses with viets, then one win and then it's my best civ????
The Songhai empire surpassed the Mali Empire in the 15th century. Key cities of the empire were Timbuktu and Djenne, and the empire is one of the wealthiest. To reflect the wealthy status of the Songhai, the civilization bonuses for gold miners and trading.
Camel and Economic civilization
- Gold miners do not carry gold nor drop them off. +1 gold is added to treasury while working.
- Caravan is free.
- Trade Carts slowly generate +1 gold during trade route. (20 carts = 1 relic).
- Heavy Camel upgrade 30% cheaper.
Unique Units:
Tuareg (60 food, 60 gold) - Camel unit with a long lance, and has bonus vs. cavalry. (Think of it as a slightly better-armored mounted Kamayuk, and a anti-cavalry Steppe Lancer. They only have +1 range, unlike the Mameluke that has 3 range).
Armed Merchant - upgrade from generic trade carts, that can fire while moving.
Unique Techs:
- Castle Age: Timbuktu - Receive 100 gold for each allied market on the map.
- Imperial Age: Trans-Saharan Traders - Upgrade your trade carts to armed merchants.
Team Bonus:
Camels have bonus against unique units.

Does anyone know what the 16 hidden achievements are and how to unlock them? I don't do any of the campaign stuff so if it's related to that I'll never find out on my own.

Run into this matchup recently and I felt like I don't have any good options.
Turk player got cav archers out and took map control early castle age so I was forced to stay in my base. I managed to get up to imp 1 minute faster or something, but transition to halb + onager takes so long that it didn't matter. In imp I was fighting against hussar + CA + BBC and it really felt like an uphill battle. Especially since BBC with artillery outrange crenellations castles and my own siege
So what should I do better next time in this matchup? Because it doesn't get any better if they go for janissaries instead...
