Aztec late game tips

I know that the Aztecs have an amazing economy. But the late game for me seems lacking. There siege is good but the can only use pikes to defend it. They get arbelest and extra attack skirmishers but they're held back by having no thumbring. The monks are good but late game it's unrealistic and too micro intensive to go mass monks.

Only combo I can think of is champion or eagle with siege. But this is very gold intensive and doesn't do much to deter knights and against a decent mass of palidan monks won't work.

It's there something I'm missing or do Aztecs not have great combos late game?
