Has anyone gone into a programming role after BSc in Physics?

Hi everyone, I have a year before graduating with a BSc in Physics in the UK but I absolutely do not want to pursue a career related to Physics at all.

I'm considering my career options and frankly the only ones I'm thinking off is some kind of tech analyst in banks, or go into data science (which im not sure about the field either). I think I'm interested in prigramming, currently taking the CS50x course during my summer break, but the thought of competing with BSc computer scientists scares the heck out of me. How am I supposed to even compete with them??

Does anyone have experience of this transition? How long did you take and what steps did you take? Would really appreciate any advice on this matter, thank you.
