High starting resources BO

Now I know this has been discussed before here here here and here, but given that no real answers came from these threads I thought I'd do some experimenting and make some observations I'd like to put forth for discussion.

Firstly, civs that start with more villagers (Chinese, Mayans, etc.) have a distinct advantage on high resources, because their less-food civ penalty is nearly nullified by having so much extra starting food. This makes civs like Chinese quite OP.

Secondly, build order. You can go up to feudal on less vills, but you still need some food/wood economy to sustain a FC boom. So I did some playing around with what seems like a relatively solid BO for a FC build on high resources.

  • 6 sheep (7 if Chinese)
  • Use one of the sheep vills to lure a boar
  • 3 wood (4 if going for barracks/blacksmith/stable)
  • 1 on 2nd boar
  • 1 berries (just for the mill)
  • 2 sheep (or you can send the berry villager to get deer with these 2)
  • 1 wood (optional, I do it if I'm going archers)
  • FEUDAL (14 or 15 vills)
  • 2 wood
  • CASTLE

So you're going up on 14-16. This seems like just enough to get a decent economy to sustain two more TC's in castle, but not too many as to not take advantage of high resources.

Thoughts?
