Mathematical physics without being 'gifted' in maths?

I do fairly well in maths, and I can always follow whats going on, I understand why formulas are the way they are. I can visualise whats going on etc. I hit between 70-80% in class tests atm. In my final year of secondary school now and want to know if the maths is possible for me or is it extraordinarily hard. It usually takes me a good amount of practice to fully understand things, I dont pick it up first time like some maths geniuses I know. I just dont want to walk into a course that I cant handle, seeing as ill be dependent on a grant to get in and if I leave my course ill lose it. Any help? I managed to get onto a research project for 2 weeks over the summer at the university I want to go to and I absolutely loved it!
