With your help, I passed the 1st round of the competition (top 50 chosen - pretty sure we took first). Now, I'm officially in the 2nd round (3 rounds in total). This is the last time I'll request for support, as the 3rd round involves me designing, assembling, and testing a PC against my competitors (Top 3 compete in person).
After this, I'll be posting my physics videos!! :D Please go to this link (http://ift.tt/2ewGF7j) and vote for the one with the thumbnail attached (http://ift.tt/2iUwEWG).
The name will be John ***** (my middle name is Phil). I can't tell you where it is on the page, as it's randomized.
You'll notice that, as you guys requested, there is a lot more 3D animation to show my skillset! The model took me forever to build (curved monitors can be tough) and the animations took even longer (~35 total hours of rendering due to complex materials and textures for photo realistic appearance). But, that will be drastically reduced with the new computer, if I take 1st.
I know the video is a little short. We were limited to 2:24.
I'm looking forward to making educational physics videos very soon. Whether I win or not, I appreciate you guys being so supportive and I'll still be making my videos, it just might take a little bit longer. Thanks again for the support! You guys are awesome!
Also, cool side note: My girlfriend is a big reddit user (and also a fellow scientist). She got really excited by how well you guys showed support last time and she seems genuinely interested in doing the camera work and makeup for my channel. :D
