Occurred to me that thanks to the no-buildings-to-age-up-or-unlock-other-buildings bonus, you could go scouts but skip building a barracks and use that wood to make a stable and range when you get to feudal, then make scouts and skirms together immediately. The skirms would easily kill any enemy spears.
