I was just wondering if there is anymore to the theory I have that is starcraft isn't for dumb people but it is a simple game, it is like a moba almost with clear lanes and the fast pace of it all, no kind of way to stop people going this or that lane, all the units are open to you pretty much instantly.
Where as company of heroes will allow you to cut off routes or blow up bridges, block pathways, it can be a fast and slow game, has tons of different tactics, like I get the zerg rush thing but I personally don't see the appeal of a game that lets you spam stuff to win, as in you couldn't just play company of heroes and within 5-10minutes spam the enemy with tons of inf or light vehicles as they would just destroy your invading army then be at an advantage as well as resources would have to be controlled to allow you to spam anything.
I say the thing about starcraft not being for dumb people as I don't want it to seem like I think it is a bad game or for stupid people, I personally don't really get why dota or lol are popular as it seems like the same thing over and over, but that is just my opinion and as starcraft so far just seems closer to a moba than any RTS games I play, I don't see why starcraft happens to be the big one and not company of heroes, age of empires, total war, they all seem to be so much more indepth and I want to word this correctly but no doubt will fail, so just going to say more skill and tactics based.
I love rts games in general and the more details in them the better, being able to use cover in different ways is great in my opinoin or hills/water meaning something in terms of advantage or disadvantage when it comes to defending or attacking, being able to be tactical and force your enemy to fight on a certain path/tricking your enemy to go a certain way only to ambush them is amazing in rts games to me as it really makes it feel like you are doing something different each time.
Things like the fact you have machine guns to stop infantry in their tracks is great when it comes to company of heroes.
Or in total war allows you to use horses to mess up infantry that are not designed to fight horses where as in age of empires horses tend to mean just more attack and hitpoitns and don't have any else about them.
Again, I don't want to sound negative about starcraft as obviously it is insanely popular compared to the games I like such as company of heroes, but I would just like to know why it is more popular than others that are more indepth in mechanics and why you or anyone you know likes it, in terms of it being fast paced or something?
