Changes to Vietnamese(Chatras, Rattan Archers, Paper Money)

I like the Vietnamese, but they've got a few fundamental flaws.

First and foremost is that their archers don't seem to have a point for existing. They're basically a gold-costing Skirmisher, but you already get Imperial Skirms, so why would you double up?

Then you've got their Battle Elephants, which are more or less the worst battle elephants available, despite their bonus health.

And then you have Paper Money, a tech that is more or less useless unless you have a big team, and even then is arguably worse than most other techs, other than maybe the outright useless ones(33 gold back when a monk dies, anyone?)

So, I'd like to tweak these three things, specifically, with two changes.

  • Chatras: Battle Elephants gain +30 health

Chatras means 'Umbrella', so I thought it would be neat if they actually shielded nearby enemies. So the new effect would be:

Battle Elephants gain +30 health. Any Rattan Archers within 4 tiles of a battle elephant shares 50% of damage taken with the battle elephant.

Basically, while near a battle elephant, Rattan Archers would send a substantial portion of damage taken to the much tankier Battle Elephants, significantly increasing the survival of the rattan archers, as long as the battle elephant remains alive. Of course, this could also result in the battle elephant taking a huge hit from a mangonel shot, but that's a risk you'd have to take.

  • Paper Money - After researching, give 500 gold to the player and all allies.

New additional effect: Also, trade penalty is reduced by 10%.

This puts them on par with the Saracens, admittedly with a cost. This allows them to better fuel their gold-expensive armies in the lategame.

That way Rattan Archers are encouraged, their Battle Elephants serve a secondary purpose even despite being the worst version of the unit, and Paper Money becomes a relevant lategame tech, rather than a quickly-forgotten short term investment.

Thoughts welcome.
