May be naive/crass, but here is my question about Einstein and theory of gravity.

Faraday had found electric and magnetic lines in 19th century. And Maxwell had put it into equation which pretty much explain fields and forces in EM waves.

In early 20th century, Is it possible for Einstein to have been influenced by the above, to imagine gravity as a field as well?

Somehow when I think of it, theory of gravitation seems unimaginative/borrowed from Faraday and Maxwell.
