Question about friction

I don’t know if this is the right subreddit to ask this but I will give it a go. If it isn’t then will someone please show me where I can ask this. Thanks for understanding.

We recently started discussing friction in physics class. We only discussed the friction constant between two surfaces and not much more. I started wondering about how two surface’s material affected the friction in between them. My teacher couldn’t give me a straight answer since I mostly focused on a formula for it. I recently found a formula for terminal velocity and noticed it had some variables with a specific value. And so I am wondering if there might be a more specific formula for the friction constant except for just dividing the friction force by the force in the opposite direction.
