queuing of technologies

read another post and someone mentioned it: what do you guys think about queuable technologies for example in the blacksmith or the university?
for me, it seems quite obvious that technologies should be queuable even in between units (so queuing 2 archers and then their crossbow upgrade for example) but i hear a lot of you think those convenience changes would harm the game on a broader level.

let me explain why i think this is not as impactful to the important parts of the game:
- early game, you usually won't use this a lot because you still need to pay resources upfront. you will probably agree that this can somewhat punish you if you just queue up everything mindlessly because it leaves you without resources for other important things. this is also where a lot of convenience changes would probably be felt more, because you are playing the game against yourself (without a lot of enemy interaction) and taking away from early game might be harmful.
- late game, this helps out to have your focus on the frontline, where it belongs.

yes, it will reduce the technology micro overhead in late game. is this a bad thing though? it will instead INCREASE micro in more exciting parts of the late game (my opinion as a player AND spectator of the game anyway).
all in all i think this would have been part of the game anyway if not for technical/design limitiations and i am curious if you would be interested to see technology-queuing in our beloved AoE2.

cheers.
