Alaric campaign spawning AIs to fill all player slots?

Basically when I play the Alaric campaigns, the game just spawns an amount of AIs with a normal (TC, dark age, 3 vils, scout) start for some reason. Luckily they generally just get destroyed by the AI but i am a bit afraid that it might mess something up in games. Anyone knows how to fix this? I haven't tried all the campaigns but this is the only one that seems to be doing this
