Select Nearest Buildings/Pressure on Battlefied

Hi everyone, new in the game,

So there is this shortcut that select all the barracks or all the stable, effective way to create needed units and fighting at the same time BUT when you're far from your tc, even if you have been building on the road the shortcut keep selecting ALL the buildings type so there is units that come from your first barracks/stables, and so very late... What is the better technique to keep high pressure on the battle line? Double click on the nearest group of barracks/stables is the only way?

In addition, I'm playing Japanese so I create artillery in castles, and I can build only five of these, so a specific answer for how to keep pressure with artillery would be appreciated
