New player. So maybe a stupid question!!!!

So glad i found this during the lock down.

My question. when i create a villager it walks off to the edge of the river and they aren't sticking to there tasks. Some are and some aren't.

Have i selected an instruction or something??

Still a Noob so i haven't really got used to the hot keys mostly just clicking away with the mouse.

Also on another note i like playing just me vs the AI but they seem to attack me a fair amount. I can repel them most times, but they are more aggressive than i would like. I guess i want to be left alone until i build my empire then attack them. Guess that defeats the object of the game????

Any help would be awesome.

And an tips on a good map class or mode would be great. Maybe i will start playing campaigns at the moment i am just playing standard.
